Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

2025 Bloodbath summary to date....

Appears the original poster's HR Playbook post was relatively accurate.

Meeting invites titled "Business Update" with leader and blind copying HR started dropping on Monday. Some are seeing meetings with the same title but the meeting is notifying them their leader has been cut.
Based on recent comments, the following OUs/groups have been hit...

  • Cardio - CRM, Structural Heart and Aortic, Cardiac Surgery
  • Diabetes
  • Medical Surgical - Endo, Surgical and ACM
  • Neuroscience - Nuero
  • GO & SC - Planners
  • R & D

It sounds like there are many meetings still on calendars for this afternoon. Hoping today marks the end of notifications and RIFs. Anyone have meetings set up for tomorrow or know how many were let go during this round of cuts? So sad to see so many "once great" Minnesota companies doing this. Wishing you all the best as you work to find a new career.

Well said. IMO, the rest of us that are still here, we need to band together and protest. Our leadership is setting us and the company to fail. We can't let them get away with this.

I am so sorry to everyone who went through the RIFs in mid-May. I hope those who wanted to find new employment have, and those wanting to take a break, have.

For those who were let go, please know that for those still here, not only are many of us suffering survivor guilt, but it has become an even harder uphill climb. Our loads just increased significantly by taking on one or more of our RIF'd colleagues workloads, while still trying to do the job we were hired to do. We are also getting leaned on even harder to meet impossible financial goals. This is not a sustainable model and as people, we cannot continue to be pushed to exhaustion without finally just stepping away to rest.

I am 100% convinced that I am in the next round of RIFs that come later in the year. Frankly, I am shocked I didn't go in May, my team isn't meeting the bottom line.
However, I would rather they RIF me and leave my team alone, my team is amazing. It is really tough here these days. I am normally a very positive person but have lost my joy.

Everyone take care of themselves!

I was laid off last week and was so relieved. It seems like the company isn’t doing well financially. Maybe a sinking ship but beyond relieved to get off the ship before it has completely sunk. Now onto my next chapter.

Everyone is in self preservation mode. For those we are still here, watch your backs.

No warning...but invite did say Business Update. HR was blind copied on meeting.

Sad..so sorry anyone has to go through this. Did management warn you or was it the icy slap which followed our managers reassuring us?

Many, including myself, are predicting the closure of PRL in the near future. The facility is a ghost-town, mainly consisting of overworked staff and out of touch senior leadership with inflated titles.

Same, it was about as cold and (un)calculated as you could imagine. Started out at PRL biomaterials group before the GTB function was formed, transferred to that once it was formed and wondered why it was so much more difficult to perform the same function that biomaterials was doing, and then suffered through the terribly rolled out merger of the two. Who needs OHS scores greater than 0% trust in senior leadership and acceptable level of stress, when you can simply hire on more India-based workers for a fraction of the cost? Really sad, because Medtronic really did seem to care about their employees prior to Omar's stepping down and Geoff stepping in. Senior leadership stopped listening to the increasingly larger pool of top talent they've been driving away, since then.

PRL, buckle up, its happening tomorrow. Conference room set up with tissues and water. Business update emails sent out today at end of day for meetings tomorrow. I got my email and ready for the next period in my life. Good luck to all....
