Does anybody know if there are any layoffs planned for next week? Should I be worried?

@4z0 “@OP What made you feel layoffs were in the future? How did you know.”
You mean because I had “An unexpected 1:1” and I curiously asked “Does anybody know if there are any layoffs planned for next week? Should I be worried?”. That feeling? You’re asking if that’s how I knew?
Well, sometimes I just get these feelings. Other times I over hear conversations by VPs in the bathrooms. Other times I read our financial reports. It just depends quarter to quarter.
Hope this helps.
@4zq psst… I predict another layoff this time next year. And probably a smaller one before then. Another secret that’s not so secret… if the size of the layoff requires reporting, they would likely do it before earnings, if not, after.
But if a single unexpected 1:1 a month before earnings is what you want to plan… aka worry by, so be it.
@4z0 I’m the original poster. My 1:1 was with my manager concerning my laptop refresh. I asked they help with it since it was stalled. I’m still employed at F5.
@4z0 I’m the original poster. My 1:1 was with my manager concerning my PTO request. She just needed to know if I had some flexibility on the dates, which I did. I’m still employed at F5.
@4z0 I’m the original poster. My 1:1 was with my manager concerning my worrisome nature that had been noticed by the rest of the team. He recommended therapy. I’m still employed at F5.
@4zp I didn't ask you.
@4z0 They didn’t know. They posted about a 1:1 over a month ago and have never bothered to update. The two are completely unrelated.
And layoffs are always in the future. There will be more. You don’t need a random 1:1 as a “sign”.

Do not expect anything, do your job to the best of your ability, if they do not see it or appreciate it, someone/somewhere else will. Stay marketable!
could just be mid years
@OP Worry not, be prepared, and always be ready. Mind your own business.
@OP are you still working?
You’ll just be reprimanded for doing your job for a half hour. It works by someone high up has no idea how you do your job, but they don’t like how you did something, so they complain to someone lower in the tree, but higher than you and that person sets up the 1:1 to tell you not to do it again. But you will, because you were just doing your job.
Easy ways to find out. What was the Meeting Subject in the invite, just a 1 on 1? Email who you're having the meeting with, your manager?. Asking the purpose of the meeting so that you can be prepared. If they don't answer by end of Monday then you're being laid off. Or, send a reschedule for 5 days past the current meeting date. If the response is no to the reschedule then again, its to lay you off.
You shouldn’t be worried at all. What does worrying get you?
So what if you get fired. There are other jobs. Other industries. Other paths entirely. Worrying won’t help. Do your best. That’s all you can do. The rest is outside your control. Let it go.
RIFs bring too much attention seems the play now is to do small dismissals as the result of strategic realignment. Thank agile for that
1:1 with whom? HR ??
