Politicians trying to push their "deal of the day'- the E.V. in an industry they know nothing of, will not work. Raising to the roof the price of new gas vehicles to fake out buyers and push them into buying the gov E.V. and force faking enormous gas prices is obvious. Herding common people to buy something politian's can invest and buy businesses in, like special metals for batteries, territorial E.V. parts, charging stations with mountains of $$ is the goal. ' Healthy environment' is not the goal, filling the pockets of politian's is. Let autoworkers do what they do best and send politians back to their original jobs.

The UAW and President can't lower prices or inflation.
These are global factors.
"Extreme food and fuel prices are smashing all of us. We need a Union with the gumption and grit the UAW has, that we can all belong to get these prices back down so that we can afford a new car ( not a E.V.)."
How...how exactly can the UAW bring the prices down for food and fuel???
This should be a good one.
The Fed raises interest rates to damp down demand. If loans and credit cards cost more, the idea is consumers will buy less stuff, sales will go down, and producers will lower prices.
That's the theory, anyway.
How are you going to fix the economy and supply chains in China, stop the Russian invasion of Ukraine (both are major sources of grain and fertilizer on the world market), get OPEC to lower prices (high energy costs get baked into everything, including transportation), and stop company greedflation where they jack up their prices more than their increased costs?
Ever wonder why companies keep announcing record profits if their costs keep going up?
Neither the President nor the UAW can fix the actual causes of inflation/high prices.
The only thing you can do is stop buying things that are overpriced. If sales go down enough, they'll have to lower their prices.
Extreme food and fuel prices are smashing all of us. We need a Union with the gumption and grit the UAW has, that we can all belong to get these prices back down so that we can afford a new car ( not a E.V.). Today we received our new/rebuilt engine for our old family beat around vehicle. The new tr---y comes next week. Luckily we are mechanically inclined, but not everybody is. Would have been easier to just buy a new car (not a E.V) but what normal family can ?
If you look at consumer data, you will see that consumers are in no position to buy new cars. The outlook is grimmer than anyone wants to face or admit.
Overpriced, impractical electrical vehicles aren't going to go over well in that market; especially when people find out that you can't park some of them in a structure because of the inferno risk. Also, repair costs, range anxiety, MUCH higher insurance, and the potential for surveillance and EV taxes (for mileage) are going to scare off the rest.
I believe that as the problems escalate (the higher interest rates, consumer debt, mass layoffs, higher electricity costs etc) the auto market will crash and people will hang on to their older cars. Used cars that are reliable (Honda, Toyota) will be the only ones that don't lose value in the market. You can already see that on autotrader. Go there and do a comparison between Malibu and Camry, GMC Canyon vs the Toyota Tacoma... you'll see a very strong difference in automobile value!
And now the plan is to use WEF-endorsed “woke steel” for sustainability. The race towards BK2 is accelerating. Who is going to put an end to this madness? The consumer - who won’t continue to accept higher and higher prices for products that are no longer a value.
Zero Zero Zero didn’t come from Mary.
It came from the world economic forum.
Net Zero. Electric cars that require only 1/3 the plant workers to assemble. All the parts will come from Ch1na. It’s no accident. UAW is going to get smaller and smaller.
There's a guy running for President who who was found guilty of se-ual as--ult who a judge said was actually ra-e.
So by your "logic" all politicians are criminals, and not just the ones who committed crimes.
If you could read, you would have seen that the guy in the article was the sixteenth person at that point in the corruption probe to go to jail for stealing millions from UAW members. That includes 2 UAW presidents that went to jail! And this happened while the "UAW President" was po----g his diapers and touching little girls. Strange that the corruption probe occurred while he was playing POTUS.
"1 corrupt union guy"
It's funny how marxists think they can shape reality with lies. Guess what? It never works.
1 corrupt union guy, 1 corrupt politician on the hook for 250 million, it isn't everyone in those jobs

"The UAW gave back a lot in 2008 when the Republican Recession crashed the economy"
Misdirection.
For 15 straight years, UAW leadership had the opportunity to ask for more.
What happened AFTER 2008? There were scores of UAW reps that went to jail for corruption. Remember that? They weren't batting for you. They were pocketing cash for throwing things in the Big 3's direction at your expense. That's what happened after 2008.
You can try to misdirect but many of us have memories and there's that pesky "the internet doesn't forget" thing too.
This is just of the corrupt reps acting like a gangster at your expense:
"Federal prosecutors charged a local United Auto Workers official Wednesday with embezzling more than $2 million in union funds, money laundering and spending the funds on gambling, g-ns, cars and child-support payments."
Edmunds, who worked at the UAW from 2011-20, “systematically drained” the union local’s bank accounts of about $2 million by using the labor group’s credit cards for personal purchases, cashing local checks and transferring money into his accounts, according to the criminal case.
He used the money to gamble, buy luxury clothes, high-end automobiles and firearms, prosecutors alleged. That includes more than $30,000 in unauthorized ATM transactions using a union debit card at Greektown Casino from 2018-20, prosecutors alleged.

Record breaking profits every quarter and billions of dollars in stock buybacks don't necessarily mean things are good for GM.
The workers need to accept less money to help the company.
"Who made those deals for 15 years?"
The UAW gave back a lot in 2008 when the Republican Recession crashed the economy and GM was about to go bankrupt until the government bailed them out.
The problem is those give backs were supposed to be temporary to get GM through the bad times, but GM considered them to be permanent.
Just goes to show that no good deed goes unpunished.
The biggest enemy of autoworkers is corrupt and inept UAW leadership.
Sinn Fein says he want to "right the wrongs of the past 15 years."
Who made those deals for 15 years? The spooky "billionaire class"?
No. It was UAW leadership, who demonstrated they could be bought.
Now Sinn Fein is over his head. Anyone can see that the game is called, "running out the clock".
By slowly and methodically adding new plants to strike each week, Fein adds thousands of people to the $500/wk obligation. The people previously on strike still collect. Then add all of the plant workers who will be laid off due to lack of parts.
I don't know about you, but I can't live off of $500 a week for months at a time. And I know that the UAW can't afford to pay it.
Before the strike, Fein taunted the big 3 by saying, 'The clock is ticking'. Ironic since that same clock ticks on as the UAW empties it coffers. Good luck.
The biggest problem with wind and solar in the US is the lack of transmission capacity to bring the power from where it's generated to where it needs to be used.
But that's a political problem, not a technical problem.
The politicians can choose to build power lines if they wanted to.
Norway is proof the old adage "don't get high on your own supply" is a good way to run an economy. They're smart enough not to be dependent on oil while making a ton of money selling it to those who are stupid enough not to realize it.
We don't have a lot of hydro power, especially with the droughts caused by climate change, but we have a lot of wind and solar.
Even though Gov Abbott hates it, wind and solar are the only things that kept the Texas power grid from collapsing during the last few months of daily 106 degree weather.
Norway gets A LOT of money from selling gas and oil to Europe from the North Sea. Has a tiny population and gets an unusual amount of energy (over 90%) from Hydro plants. That's cool if you have a tiny population (5 million) and you have a geography that gives you lots of rivers and elevation to make hydro work. Unlike solar or wind, their turbans are always turning,
We have a lot more people, little hydro and have an energy policy bent towards individual investor/profit taking.
I have been there, Sweden - -same. More people live in California than in both countries combined. That part of the World is lucky, they are doing smart things too. Only their energy strategy wouldn't work for us.
Have you been to Norway?
I have.
It's very much like America, except when you meet a right wing person they're someone like Bill Clinton instead of Jim Jordan and they have single payer health care like every other developed country except for us.
You id--ts in Detroit don't realize the tastemakers moved to EVs a couple years ago and the rest of us are following. Just like how you didn't see Honda and Toyota picking off people with brains a couple decades earlier.
Ponder this and weigh the direction we're going...

@gdw+1oNwvL02
What is your point?
The logic - In Norway, 9 out of 10 cars sold are Ev's, so...same culture and consumer wants and needs in the United States?
What's going on with EV sales in Europe?
How are sales in Norway?
Politicians can force automakers to shift to EVs but they can't make consumers want them, let alone love them. In fact, the more you force Americans to do something, the more they fight back. EVs are a non-starter and will destroy the big 3 for a variety of reasons.
Did you pick up on the fact that the Ford battery plant was a joint venture with the Ch!nese Communist Party? The CCP company is called, "Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd" or CATL.
The creation of EVs is predicated on partnerships with an enemy of The United States. It's like sending $110 billion to arm Na-is against Russia. We would never do that, right?
Will he waddle the picket line?
"Don't sell your house! GM will never close Lordstown!"
Trump is coming again tomorrow to use the workers as a prop because he'll never do anything to help them.
