Today is Tuesday and once again ECS is degraded. For those who know what will it take before the powers that be decide enough is enough and kick HCL to the curb?

It takes several contacts to CCC now to get anything fixed. HCL doesn't know what the he-l they're doing and escalating for assistance not only does not help but takes forever. I wonder did corporate think downgrading Tech what actually save the money? State Farm's brand is taking a big hit. And State Farm deserves it.
This outage? HCL did bumble around like id--ts and the outage lasted longer than it should have. This from monitoring the whiteboard...
For the record HCL didn’t cause the outage
Outsourcing peers and coworkers to HCL is an example of what could happen to any job at SF. You want to not care? Don't come crying when your BI CS job is replaced by 3PET doing your evals or Mitchell's AI writing estimates.
@lbms should learn to care a bit about HCL and those rebadged folks if their job depends on anything running on a computer. Because there isn't one system the isn't somehow impacted or supported at least partially by HCL now. What a tool.
@lbms nobody stopping non HCL people from posting whatever they want.
Keep projecting though.
Everyone who visits this site knows what HCL is, theyve pretty much set up camp here. They were not all that helpful before the rebadge so most who were not involved dont really care all that much if im to be honest. Yes i know so tragic, after 10 years of SF showing how little they care about their employees now support staff sees how little they care and are shocked. Yes SF has set up an offshore location in Guatemala that its not talking about. Likely all low skill support staff roles will eventually be offshored. This is true for every company, as sad as it is.
So now HCL rebadgers just hang out here spamming the forum wrecking what tiny shred of value this site had for everyone else. But back to the "woe is me they rebadged me, im tech support how could this be happening to me" Go ahead the 15 HCL'ers downvote this like you always do, but this isnt the place for HCL people this is for state farm, and you got rebadged because the VALUE your role provided to the company was minimal at best. Its not your fault its your roles fault. Please move on though.
A lot of current State Farmers also don’t know what HCL is. Everybody is now contained their own compartment. Everybody thinks their own job is the most important, and the most poorly compensated. We are no longer a collaborative organization. They set things up so that we’ve pitted ourselves against each other. And a lot of it is our fault for fall g into the trap.
I wonder if anyone at the board meeting has any clue how bad this HCL deal and their support really is?
We won’t be profitable until more work is sent to HCL. Leadership, get it done.
It stands for Here Come Layoffs.
I am an ex State Farmer. Tell me, what does HCL stand for?
HCL is doing a great job and leadership needs to move more work to them. A lot of sour grapes here but don’t believe them. Everything is working just fine.
Hopefully you get rebadged soon as well so you can do the needful while on call 24x7
dunno but im sick to death of hearing about HCL over here.
MSP and Claims ECS… biggest data scam and money grab.. FA loves his plan
exploit em all and customers and employees
Cha Ching for him
The splunk team got HCLed and its complete trash now and i dont blame the hcl converted employees, id be pi---d and not care either
It's abundantly clear the hypocrisy of SF leadership knows no bounds. They expect a full confesion out of the worker, but have and never will have the same to the worker by limiting their ability to be free. End result, a cluster F*K!
Well…they would have to admit their mistakes AND that never happens at the FARM.
@4wdz... only one problem with moving to a new MSP. Its taken a year and a half to partially train the off-shore peeps and even now they are not competent to handle all of the monitoring and IPLs/ Maintenance. State Farm cannot go to a new MSP ... with nobody left to train the new guys ... LMAO. People dont seem to understand there is NOBODY than can handle State Farm Mainframe systems without years of training... not even IBM.
@4wdz there's a reason one of them was told to retire and the other one was put on an island where they can't hurt the existing business.
I was there when AP was asked about what happens when HCL fails to meet expectations. She said SF would move to another MSP. The same meeting FA told the group SF did not owe them jobs.
Real empathy there. Could not happen to a better group of people. Too back they make FU level money.
@3zem yep. It can't be understated how little of a "darn" any of us remaining rebadges give about the work now. I couldn't care less if anything gets fixed or implemented anymore.
The execs make comments about how surprised they are at how many of us have stayed and I laugh every time I hear it. They don't realize we all figured out how to sit and not do anything and collect the check. He-l, I'm working a second day job now and drawing 2 salaries. Figure I can ride that out for a few months at least before the work piles up enough for anyone to notice
It's too late, State Farm sc--wed the pooch. Rebadged managers have no power. Offshore will continue to drive the rest of us that have a clue away because we cost too much and they think they have run books that anyone can read can do our jobs. Those of us that tried to hang on through this are stressed to the max and ready to snap They are clueless and honestly so is State Farm. The let it burn mentally is the norm. Hope all is good for a few days. None of us are going to answer our phone this weekend.
@1riq... Mainframes are not the issue FOOL, AWS and Indian programers are the issue. The cheap basturds in charge are getting exactly what they paid for and by the way there will be more significant outages very soon..... :)
Cool, we have mainframes that have not been hacked but on the other hand I couldn't join a teams meeting, access our homepage or get work done in ECS for the better part of the day. Glad our systems are secure.
Don't get me wrong HCL su-ks, but this one again is looking more like programming issues than infrastructure. Time will tell but another day of my life wasted on the bridge.
@tpr... Correct, Lightyears... your Titanic analogy is misleading. The only thing slowing us down was the NON-Systems bureaucracy wanting their input which slowed the software progression. When was the last time you heard of a Mainframe being hacked? It has never happened and no server farm can even come close to the processing power. AWS is an utter failure for what State Farm needs.
@fra+ "State Farm Systems was lightyears ahead of most companies " Am I misreading this? For as long as I can remember we have talked about how antiquated our systems were, likening us to the Titanic and tie amount of time it takes to "turn the ship".
@fvt it's not going to happen. HCL has the work until March 2026 at a minimum, with a mutual option to extend until 2028.
There is no back out plan for the infrastructure shift. HCL either has, or has failed to retain, all of the technical knowledge of the platform. State Farm can't just "bring it in house" or "hire a new vendor".
@fvt ... it took 1 1/2 years to get to this point with HCL's staff. There is only a handful of rebadged techs left and what you and the rest of corporate have no clue is that NOBODY can do this job except for those techs that got sc--wed during this little exercise. There is no MSP that can take this on they do not exist. Background... for the last two decades we have had vendors bid ... none .... N O N E could even come close due to one major issue and that is State Farm Systems was lightyears ahead of most companies and vendors they were just not even close.
1st, get HCL to give the rebadged State Farm workers a COLA. I know many of us are no longer putting in the effort to do more than the basics. State Farm got rid of us, then HCL had planned to get rid of us until they figured out that their offshore replacements couldn't do the job. Then HCL chose not to give us a raise this year. So, I just sit here watching the offshore people fail to do in a week what I would have fixed in 5 minutes .
Yeah we know this. We know that corporate tried saving a buck and it's biting them in backside. You completely missed the question. Anyone on the inside know how bad the HCL SLOs have to be before State Farm either brings things back in house or finds a different outsourcing vendor?
Folks.... when you see a d-mb@ss ask a question like this, it tells you a lot of how we got here. The problem with ECS is wait for it ..... AWS and onshore indian programmers writing subpar code. We NEVER had these types of issues... at least not to this extent until we brought in the thousands of Indian programmers to rewrite claims. HCL is pathetic .... but our management destroyed Systems long before HCL due to the incompetence up the chain of command ....lets hope it does not sink the company before the ship gets righted.
