Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Is Vale still an option as remainco CEO?

Haven't heard much on the legal front since the bombshell revelation and termination in May. I'm beginning to wonder if the cops used entrapment style tactics and are now in hot water with the judge. Vale getting off without a trial would boost his chances to sue 3M and get his old job back. The one guy who was boasting about Vale back in May may have been right after all.

Either way, Vale or Gibbons (Gibbons can be Vales bench coach if Mike gets the job, since he's been a successful CEO) would be a great change from Roman and Monish.

Two visionary guys who don't take bull from anyone.

The likelihood of the board bringing Vale back a so soon after literally firing him 'for cause' is zero. There are easily 100 people who would get the job before him. He-l, even I'd likely get offered the job before him and I'm definitely a lot lower than 100 on the list.

For this purpose it really doesn't matter what he did or when he did it - the company told the public he was fired for a breach of company policy severe enough to warrant an immediate dismissal.

What would that investor meeting look like: "We're proud to name Dr. Mike Vale as 3M's next CEO... yes, the same Mike Vale we fired earlier this year... no, we're not going to tell you what he did, or why we changed our minds... no, it was totally not the pr---------n thing... no, we're not going to say what else it might have been... "

Normally, woodbury publishes stories of busts about 2 months after the bust date. This gives the legal system time to get its charges together and perhaps plea bargain. But either way, any plea will be recorded in court papers if even probation or a fine were involved.

Silence on Vale indicates, if as suspected woodbury ran a sting, they got stung by their own sting and Vale got off. Again big IF this really happened.

I fully expect vale to be back and Roman's departure shortly. The company shares will be a nice pop too. No one cares about what happened in 2001, because it may have been entrapment that Vale was told by the head honchos to settle down to avoid the publicity.

Of course he is! Instead of “healing” the Supply Chains, he will “massage” the Supply Chains!

Dude, go read my post history and you'll quickly figure out I'm not a Vale fan...

His actual attitude is all BS.

First defending PFAS contamination and now defending the actions of a reprobate.

No shame whatsoever.

Disgraceful!

"He has the no BS attitude"

Siri, how does a person say they have never worked with Mike Vale without saying they have never worked with Mike Vale.

I'd take Vale back in a heartbeat. He has the no BS attitude and probably riled up Roman to the point that Mikey was looking for a way to kick him to the curb so he could stay as CEO for 3 more years.

Wall Street would love the change and pop the share up a good 10 to 20 bucks.

For those who aren’t aware, here was the first time Vale solicited a pr-------e:

So yes, perfect for RemainCo s and 3M ethics.

After watching the company flounder even more under Roman (stock price is almost back to 100), clearly Peter Gibbons is the best candidate for remainco, that is if Vale doesn't want the job after being cleared of all charges (don't blame him for moving on with a megamillion settlement for being fired on false pretenses).

He finally took on the ivory towers and trimmed the bloated staff that even Mcnerney was too timid to cut. The so-called Manufacturing Technology Engineers were grossly overpaid, arrogant, strictly 8 to 430 weekday workers who used to spend hours at Tartan doing nothing more than fartin', and considered themselves as royalty. Cutting only 50 percent of them was probably too kind of Pete but it's a good start.

Go Pete Go!

3M has a dirty and corrupt style of management. I wouldn't doubt it being plausible.

There is a push for women leadership and he could help but I believe you have to be 18 for 3M to hire and he likes 14 year old girls so I’m not sure this is a win win

Seems reasonable to me as long as 3M doesn’t hire any prostitutes.

Vale a visionary?? You clearly didn’t work with him. Rather a micromanager who demanded analysis until paralysis to avoid taking a decision, who refused to make the critical decisions for the org because he wanted to avoid conflict with his colleagues, and whom filled his direct reporting line with yes people with zero management courage. That form of leadership is not what the company needs…
