Strategy for Viya Cloud Migrations

Since a core IPO valuation element for SAS presumably includes how effectively SAS can migrate on-premise customers to cloud subscriptions, it will be interesting to see how much progress is made in the coming months with the Viya strategy.

Given Viya was never designed as a true cloud migration path, does anyone know how much progress is being made there? I'm not sure if App Factory/Workbench are getting much interest to enhance Viya's value.

Oh brother. More conspiracy theories.
Don’t ask like whiny a--hole and you’ll be fine.

"If you are actually at SAS get up and ask your questions. There have been venues for such questions. But you folks only seem to have them anonymously."

Stand up an be counted, cause we can't remain "profitable" without further head count reductions!

A LinkedIn search for "SAS" "Viya" jobs in the United States returns 10 results.

Two of the jobs are at SAS Institute.

“ So far Viya is analognous to
trying to get a vegetarian interested in eating meat. Probably not going to happen.”

Yeah it is so very “analognous” to vegetarians and carnivores….. Oh wait. It is nothing even remotely like that.

“ So...exactly what is the Viya strategy? How does SAS generate interest in Viya besides giving it away only for it to mostly collect dust? The market just doesn't seem at all interested in Viya.”

There are other sources of information for those questions than an anonymous forum.
While I could answer I don’t really see the point.

This is a sticky one. Analysts with the underwriters will have their own special sauce approaches to figuring out the conversion rate over time, and forecasting revenue and profitability impacts. I think the design challenges of Viya will make it hard for any of them to come up with a reliable answer on that point--it just depends on so many factors that those analysts might not fully understand.
I agree that cloud migrations and new cloud customers are the key areas they will evaluate the company on. Based on the published numbers, those don't seem to be increasing fast enough to make for the valuation JG wants for the company.
I still think they will only IPO a portion of the company's ownership (like what Dell did some years back), IF they ultimately do IPO at all, and they may not do that until '26 at this rate.
Between now and then, I expect more churn at the leadership ranks, especially in sales since they haven't hit numbers in forever. And I think they will continue to cut overhead costs, and refocus on core product... and whatever the consultants tell them to do in order to get "IPO Ready".
