I haven't been here long enough to know if Medtronic does layoffs close to holidays. Should I be worried?

At a guess, the traditional management practice of the beatings will continue until morale improves.
Right first time "Quality" Policy in action LOL
No, you are fine.
Wut? lol
Bearings will continue until morale improves
Stock is not doing well
Prepare for major layoffs in Feb-March
They don’t pretend anything. Hugo isn’t selling well so they just stop talking about it.
GM does his usual shtick and moves on to the next thing. In Hugo’s case that is US launch.
If Hugo did not sell well, the numbers would tell, right? How could top executives pretend anything??
The black hole that is Hugo will claim more victims as they go looking for budget to launch. Expect Geoff to push for more layoffs across the company to free more cash up for this turkey. He and Marinaro are the only ones pretending its still going to be a success.
Pretty much me and my whole team were RIFed in October of 2023. There is definite date for layoffs.
Usually the big cuts are in April and May. If you are still here, you are safe until then. No one is safe. We are all numbers on a spreadsheet.
Medtronic keeps betting way too much in Surgical Robotics at the expense of everything else and it's a dead end. I've heard nothing but horror stories from people that use HUGO. The product and brand is already tainted in the eyes of customers. Geoff and his brown nosers are so out of touch of the reality of the market it's going to destroy the company.
It’s all about hitting the almighty QUARTERLY metrics. Short term solutions that had compounded from barely hitting a quarter (when in actuality missing the mark, but ‘fixed’ financial engineering) and now mixed with the cascade of poor sales performance and overspending on M&A has left MDT with no growth potential.
HUGO will NOT save Medtronic. And they continue pouring Millions into that project with low ROI.
In the past several years we had RIFs in late April and early May.
Is this the new norm to have it between Thanksgiving and Christmas?
Mother Medtronic just did lay offs in Neuro and Surgical this week. So, yes, close to the holidays. You could enjoy your thanksgiving but your Christmas will su-k.
