How will this work out Lumen and google are now strategically partnering, but we’re also competing in the residential fiber market? Are both going to over lap each other, or is one going to absorb the other??

ATT, US West, Qwest, Centurylink, Lumen. Not sure what the point of the telecom family tree is but thought i'd add mine.
Embarq, Sprint, Nextel, CenturyTel

Som folks need to check their facts, Jefferson MO was never a Qwest territory!!

edit
Around the time that Sprint Nextel spun off their landline division to form Embarq, Verizon, and AT&T began work on their own IPTV services to compete with the local cable companies.[citation needed] Embarq was no different, and had started work on a similar service called Embarq TV.[citation needed] Details were scarce, but the service was rumored to have been an IPTV fiber-to-the-node service similar to AT&T's U-verse. The service was going through beta testing when CenturyTel agreed to purchase Embarq to form CenturyLink in 2009.[citation needed]
CenturyLink (still known as CenturyTel) began rolling out what was to eventually be known as Prism TV in October 2009 in Jefferson City, Missouri. It adopted the Prism TV name in 2011, based on the Embarq TV infrastructure.“
The broadband tech title was over 20 years ago. Had nothing to do with offering tv service. He-l, we were only offering adsl and a very small footprint of adsl2 at the time. Some id--t somewhere had the idea that once service was installed upto the demarc a fancy boy or girl would show up in their khakis and button down to install their modem and set up their wifi. (If they purchased the antenna to go on their modem that is}.
Yea, that never happened and after the initial show of interest to be a broadband tech and the one round of title changes not a single one was ever offered again. So yea, close to a decade before centurylink took over qwest and years before streaming services began dominating.
“Qwest resold DTV long before CTL and Prism, and ended the partnership before Prism was shut down.”
To this day Century link is still selling Direct TV as a bundle product, prism is long gone, it shows a continuous habit of jumping in feet first into a market only to abandon that market once they realize they had waited far far far too long.
Consumer demand for programmed TV was already losing out to streaming services, at the point that the company negotiated a whole new title of Broadband technician with the union. (Clueless)
Then the LVL 3 merger happened Mr post left and the new leader ship shut down Prism and partnered with Dish tv. (Wasn’t there Baby)
Now we’re lumen who inherited GPON , has rebranded it as quantum, Fiber to the home was always a half hearted effort for the better part of a Decade, why because we didn’t have competition for residential customers other than the cable tv industry, now there are multiple fiber to the home providers competing with Quantum.
We only got serious about competing once the competition was on the ground and running, guess what they out ran us.. Google fiber has a greater foot print than us..
we’re being told by some local management.. not to worry fiber to the home isn’t cost effective. that Google and the other fiber providers are going to go out of business and Lumen is going to buy those networks..
(Again quantum's not Kate’s baby it’s last generation leadership )

Omg! We ran fiber to a VZ tower, that must mean VZ is buying Lumen... JHC, go away trolls.

That just means VZ was too lazy to run their own fiber and decided to go with a less reliable service to save a few bucks. VZ consumers be warned, VZ is cutting corners too.

Remember when we partnered with Direct Tv and then shut down Our Prizm TV?
I Do!!

That would be an accounting nite mare
If something that big was about to happen why would she sell now before it bumps? Most likely she’s dumping to get ahead of the stock tanking in a few weeks.
You shills need to get better material. Coming here every week with your merger bs. Goto the yahoo forums and pu-e out your theories. No one on a layoff forum cares.
No worries, the SLT will be transparent to all the employees. It's almost a done deal that Google buys the fiber footprint of Lumen, and all the Lumen weirdee branding is ditched in favor of Google branding. Something is about to happen because Kate is doing stock selling.
