Streaming contractors to be terminated on 09/30

Most streaming contractors will get terminated on 09/30.

Some will get extended to 12/31 with no guarantee of either extension or conversion to FTE.

Contractors will be informed by their agencies. This should happen in the next week or two. Their direct managers have been instructed not to say anything to the contractors.

No severance packages fo contractors

@4mdj+1u84QIu5, higher-ups have confirmed that most of the contractors will have their contracts terminated by end of September, and the same will be communicated with their vendors/ agencies.

@iyw+1u84QIu5, exact numbers were not provided yet, but from what was distributed, "almost all teams would be impacted". And "atleast 1 or 2 would be terminated from each team"

Pluto TV is one of the profitable business units within Paramount, so I wouldn't expect it to be heavily impacted.

The Pluto TV teams are 75% contractors. If all were to be cut, Pluto would get jack and squat done.

To whoever made this post. Do you really know for sure, or are you just assuming contractors will be let go because their contract's "End date" is Sept 30th? Cause a lot of contractor's end date is Sept 30th, so you can't just assume every contractor is doomed just because their contract says "Sept 30th"

@2bjw+1u84QIu5 “What’s the complaint?” lol nobody wants to be let go? That’s the complaint. Believe it or not some contractors were promised to be converted to FTE multiple times by management only to now find out they’re being let go. Your message makes little sense I’m afraid.

Contractors had a choice: they could either remain contractors or aim for full-time positions. Initially, it was a matter of choice. Yes, finding a full-time position takes time, but they chose to be contractors for one reason or another. Contractors are the first to be let go because they are financed from a different budget. So, what's the problem? Is it a poor personal choice of employment type? Full time people are going to be removed as well. What's the complaint?

Going to be a bloodbath at Pluto if they get rid of contractors

Is the term "contractor" being used as a blanket term for any non FTE throughout the company? Poster mentions that contractors will be notified via their agencies, however, that wouldn't be the case with PBEs who are paid through C&C or EP.

"Some will get extended to 12/31 with no guarantee of either extension or conversion to FTE."

What is the decision making process as to who gets extended and who doesn't?

Contractors are going to be VERY heavily impacted. Information will be coming directly from your agency next week.
Please note that Management (besides a handful of high-level direct reports) is intentionally being left in the dark as long as possible. They will not be finding out who is affected up until you do, and are not involved in this decision making process. Management was informed yesterday about the timeline and to keep quiet, as agency’s will be contacting their team members. In the meantime, no direction has been given to managers on exactly when and how their team members will be notified, nor have they been given resources on how to talk to those affected. It’s another flippant cruelty.
It’s cold comfort, but keep in mind this has absolutely nothing to do with performance, and contributions to the company are not being considered. It all comes down to cost savings. Those making these decisions do not know how these teams work, what they actually do, or how they interact with each other. It's like we’re chopping off every other finger and still expecting to hear the recital. It’s going to be a sh-t show come October.

Rumor is about half of streaming will be impacted. If for some reason Skydance DOESN'T happen, the CEOs are fine just ki-ling it all together

Well I lost that bet, this took much longer to leak than I had originally anticipated.
