I heard that there were more layoffs last week. I know of one person affected but not sure if the extent of this round. Does anyone have more info?

Nooo, not building V! I had many a nap there back in the day, at the R&D town halls with various groups we were shuffled around between in all of the many re-orgs. The seats were so comfy, and when they turned the lights out for the rear projector, ....snnzzzzzz.
I'll never forget the fantastic ambience during lunch in building F (twentieth century), with BB playing the piano, al fresco dining on the apron patio, and those desserts.
L, E, H, J, yeah demolish those but V and F are so memorable. Sad to see those go (if it happens).
There were a few more this week. From what I know they got rid of the last of the R&D retail old guard going back to the Marketmax days.
There was also an email talking about building consolidation. I think T and U are being emptied. Someone may have the email and can confirm.
There is a rumor that E, H, J, V, L and F will be torn down. Seems like a lot but it makes sense when you think about their location and pushing everyone up towards S, A, C, and Q. So many people are never coming back to the office so they don't need the space.
Curious if anyone has heard differently.
trying again, this time remembering to paste @4pue+1sub0nMv

@4huo+1sub0nMv “ Thats a great and maybe you'll have success with it on a place not dedicated to layoffs.”
Yeah so you people keep saying as you talk about everything negative under the sun most of it not being related to layoffs.
Apply the same rules to yourself.

Weird that a bunch of ICs in HLS were let go and now they’re hiring for a manager, IC LS!? Are they just trying to hire cheaper folk?
Email about consolidating offices on campus too yesterday…
“SAS is at the peak and still climbing.”
Oxymoron alert.
As someone who spent a career in optimization (and who understands at least the basic principles of mountain climbing), I can assure you that if you are at the peak and still climbing, you’re in Wile E. Coyote territory.
Forgot to mention that I have an advanced degree in Looney Tunes.
Rather than trashing people and trashing the company, it would be great to talk about the positive and what we can do to support each other. Is the company perfect? No. But we should do what we can to help move things forward.
To all the anonymous wackos out there: SAS is at the peak and still climbing. Can't wait for the IPO!
The Institute went downhill pretty quickly after JDav left, amirite?
PH was a mo--n. Listening to her pep talks was like listening to word salad of platitudes. Awful. GB is just as bad, but only speaks in sports metaphors.
That’s why sales at SAS is doing so poorly. No professionalism. No actual strategy or improved execution. Just touchy feely garbage.
So enlighten us...what is the "current state of the business"?
Might be a good idea to focus on what we have. Nobody understands the current state of the business better than those of us who work here now.
No.

Paula can't save this place. If she's as smart as I think she is, she has already been snatched up by a competitor. Letting her go was not smart. I'm sure she was very well paid on the way out. But it's ridiculous that it was never addressed by the so-called leadership.

I wonder if the HLS layoffs are related to the Pharma industry's growing adoption of R and Python. SAS was once entrenched in Pharma, but I'm surprised with how much work is done in R within the past 4-5 years.
I heard the same from three people today. Layoffs last week and more coming but no details. Each person knew 1 or 2 people who had been affected but that was it.
Intel Corporation receives $8.5 billion in direct funding from the CHIPS and Science Act, in addition to $11 billion in loans from the government and is expected to create 6,000 construction and 3,000 manufacturing jobs in Arizona.
Intel better not messes up this opportunity.
"That's the tragedy of SAS. It's not like Kodak, or Novel, or VMWare, where the market they were in became obsolete. SAS's market is more relevant than ever."
So very very true and well spoken. Sad and frustrated for SAS.
"Intel is similar. A stale player in growth sector...although they probably still have a chance to turn things around. Not so for SAS...too late."
I sure hope Intel can turn things around since they received funding from our tax money to compete with China.
On March 20, 2024, the U.S. Department of Commerce and Intel Corporation announced a preliminary memorandum of terms under which Intel will receive approximately $8.5 billion in direct funding under the CHIPS and Science Act.
“Not really puzzling. There are plenty of growth markets where SAS plays, but is unable to capitalize on the opportunity.”
You’re right, of course. I suppose a more appropriate word than “puzzling” would be “disappointing.”
"Layoffs in a presumably growing area like HLS (think “aging boomers”) are puzzling, to say the least."

“HLS would be Health and Life Sciences I would guess.”
That’s what it meant when I was with SAS. Layoffs in a presumably growing area like HLS (think “aging boomers”) are puzzling, to say the least.
HLS would be Health and Life Sciences I would guess.
What is HLS?
That’s unusual. I’d have thought they’d do the day before the spring fling.

"'IC' is Industry Consulting. Not sure it was the entire team but I heard there were many let go in Justice and HLS. There were probably others.
Group headed by a director KM. Not sure if she is still around."
