When 1675 remodeled in 1998 2.3 million was put into that store. 1185 even more. This is not the 5 billion 1998 company wide remodel.
New job posting for a "Store Support Remodel Associate" in Union Gap. Dated July 26 but only posted today:
https://sjobs.brassring.com/TGnewUI/Search/Home/Home?partnerid=455&siteid=185#jobDetails=1910572_185
The Store Support Remodel Associate will assist the store team with labor work as we remodel the store.

General cleaning and removal of old fixtures and debris is also required.
...
he schedule and job duties may change after the store is re-opened to the public, to include additional shift times as well as begin focusing on Customer Service.
Yes, they are reopening. Same time as the Burbank store.
@6ahj+1mH4tJZb LMAO, true.
But, but, but, I bought my first table saw (or whatever gadget), from Sears back in 1973. That makes Sears, more important than my first born child! Don't you understand that? 🙄
I also bought my first shoes in Kmart, circa 1983, so I'm still here, 40 Years later, sitting in my mom's basement, begging for them to come back, ROFL! 😄 I am completely oblivious to the 1000's of online sites where I can literally buy anything and have it at my front door in 2 Days, LOL! I will continue spending my Days, plotting for Sears' return and comeback!
@6pri+1mH4tJZb I Know! Although, to be fair, I think most of the posters below are being "ironic", or "tongue in cheek", at least I hope they are, for their own sakes. Because if someone is on here, unironically, begging, pleading, pining, and hoping for Sears or Kmarts to come back, then they have bigger problems.
They were inanimate objects......buildings with 4 walls, in which to buy widgets. Well, now there are other inanimate buildings with 4 walls, in which to buy widgets. Save your tears for Sears, and instead, saunter over to your local Lowes or Ace Hardware, or whatever. You'll survive LOL. Trust me, they will have that screwdriver or whatever you need. 😉
Sure bubba sure. Yawn, next......Sears isn't opening. Find hobbies.
I hope you find a meaningful relationship as well since you consume all your time with individuals you suspect don't have any relationships with. Maybe you should go to Sears & Kmart yourself and meet a new Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Theyfriend, whatever floats your boat! Then maybe you won't be so irritated at the Sears Layoff page so much. You call everyone you disagree with losers and trolls yet you waste your time on this site all the time. Go find a hobby.
And I hope y'all van find hobbies, or better yet, enter into a meaningful relationship so you don't have to resort to spamming threads about closed Sears, & Kmarts, at all Hours. 😬
I hope it reopens as a new Kmart and not an old Sears. Sears Sux. Kmart is numero uno.
Any "New Concept in Retail" that Eddie allows his money to be invested in will without a doubt be limited in the amount of capital that he is willing to invest in it. So something that is only a small percentage of the breath of merchandise a Sears used to have. Next to little on-hand inventory. Reliance on existing sears.com infrastructure for ordering and fulfillment. Low expenditure in fixtures and store presentation (can't we use only pints of paint instead of gallons?). And of course, loaded with Shop Your Way insults.
@5cuc+1mH4tJZb Underrated comment!
You should stick to campaigning for more bike trails Ron.
@4pby+1mH4tJZb Wow, you don't Say? Your "mother's friend" confirmed that the store is opening. Wow, why didn't you Say so before? This TOTALLY changes everything! Now I totally believe you! 😏🥱
I was skeptical at first but now that you mentioned this mythical mother's friend, I am totally convinced! This now qualifies as valid, proven, front page news for the New York Times!
A few posts below: “We’ll be remodeling in January and February, and they HOPE to reopen in the fall".
They "HOPE", eh? Well hope in 1 hand, cr@p in the other hand, and see which fills up first, ROFL!
@4hoi+1mH4tJZb Right. And I'll be Winning the Powerball, Marrying a supermodel, and playing in MLB next Year, as well. All 3 of these scenarios are more likely than that nonsense spewed by "Mark the liquidation manager", or whatever, LMAO! How gullible can y'all be? Might as well go believe that Drunk rambling to himself, in the corner of the Bar at 1 AM. He's about as credible as this "Mark" character, whoever in the he-l, he even is, LOL. Come on now, try harder.
And again, with that rumor, your mom's rumor, & 25 Cents, you could have made a phone call (if Pay phones still existed). Sears ain't opening any stores, LOL. Rumors are like backsides. Everyone has one, and they all stink.
The new job posting is consistent with the Yakima Herald's report last November, at https://www.yakimaherald.com/news/local/business/valley-mall-sears-liquidation-sale-extended-location-may-be-remodeled/article_214f9c70-69f7-11ed-a6ae-2fac6bed838c.html :
Valley Mall Sears liquidation sale extended; location may be remodeled
November 22, 2022
The liquidation sale for the Sears store at the Valley Mall in Union Gap has been extended through Dec. 18, and a new version of the former department store giant may be coming next year.
Plans call for the space to be remodeled and reopened next fall as a Sears concept store, said Mark Shreve, who is managing the liquidation.
“We’ll be remodeling in January and February, and they hope to reopen in the fall,” Shreve said. “It will be a new Sears store, a new concept in retail, with significant remodeling of the store. It may not use all the existing square footage.”
I heard the same rumor as well.
My mother's friend who works at sears heard the same thing.
And with that rumor, & 25 Cents, you could have made a phone call (if Pay phones still existed). Sears ain't opening any stores, LOL. Their last 11 stores, will too, be gone eventually.
I heard a rumor on a group it is reopening. Glad to hear Sears is opening stores while Wal-Mart is closing theirs. Eddie LamPert's plan is working.
What makes it nonsense is the same person copy/pasting this same question across 9 different websites. I won't mention anybody's name here but we Know who engages in copypasta, like that. As for his job, it was likely just posted by a computer bot, that wasn't programmed to be aware of the prior closing. Go back to bed. "Nonymous".
It is a real job posting, which you can verify for yourself by following the link, so what makes it nonsense?
The same clown (you can figure out who he is) also posted this same nonsense on the Sears reddit page. Some people like to copy and paste.
Pathetic......truly pathetic.
What's a Sears?
Union Gap: population 6,500. If it does, I'm sure 1 part-time employee can cover it.
What about Burbank?
Sears just needs to die. Stick a fork in it. It’s done.
Let me rise for the bait. Absolutely not! Sears is closed for good, only 11 zombie stores remain until they all picked off.
I hope
