Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Can't Wait

I am a proximity AEA and can’t wait till they fire me or eliminate my job. The incompetent people that run this company have destroyed it and are too stupid and arrogant to realize it. We are not here to keep the promise anymore we are here to generate numbers on a matrix set up for you and the company”s failure.

The only reason this company has made money in the last 10 years is the stock market and when that tanks so will this company as they deserve to.

They took the best years of my life and now they render us useless but they will eventually find out they failed. So I say get on with eliminating estimators all together as I am done but will not give them the satisfaction of me quitting because that’s exactly what they want.

Good point. Just in the last 30 days the following companies announced layoffs-MGM 18,000, Coca Cola 4000, Sales Force 1000, American Airlines 19,000, AT&T 4000, United 36,000, Walgreens 4,000, Macy’s 4000, Hilton 3800. For the reasons you outline the insurance industry and SF will find themselves in the same undesirable position-falling revenue, increasing costs and less work. It is inevitable.

I'm sure changes will occur on the the near horizon. There will be post Covid staffing evaluation based on business needs. Policy Holders may drive less, and work from home. There will be less car accidents, PH reduce their insurance coverages. More push for virtual inspections, less need of field staffing. Just be prepared and ready for changes so you won't be blindsided and have options to make the best decision for yourself.

@4hhz+16uJx5cB This is already happening in the hub cities. They are eliminating the pension for new hires because 1) it's too expensive, 2) the younger generation of employees have no idea of its value and when surveyed tell SF they would rather have other benefits 3) the younger generation will not make working for SF a long term career. As you noted they will just job hop for better salaries.

Pension is the carrot on the stick; good luck retaining talents in the future. Why would anyone stay after a couple years of experience; they can just go across town and get the same job with a salary increase.

Estimatics is micro managed thru the roof. The company 9-10 yrs ago said they were going to have approximately 300 in house estimators doing nothing but handle PE and v supps
This never happened so they looked for ways to handle the overflow aka proximity aea’s can handle a few a week..this failed....aea’s retired and/or quit and were not replaced..... now it has caught up to the farm......remember etm’s get paid a mip bonus every year based on NUMBERS...aka slo’s....here we are 5-6 months covid....and they still cant figure it out....the heat maps what 3-4 a day are a joke....who cares....we are loosing policies everyday.....the farm can try and sell it with propaganda..but the biggest problem is there is not staffing to do it correctly...and until that is addressed...aka next year when new hires dont have a pension plan....its only going to get worse....

You should be fired. Wishing the company that controls your retirement to fail....makes you an id–t. We don't need people like you. Seeya

The number of completd assignment tasks is a illusion of real productivity. Writing inaccurate initial estimate is only to manipulate the numbers matrix. This leads to unnecessary multiple supplements along with rushing through virtual estimates to achieve completed task counts. Are we really saving money by using the mirage tasks as a gauge of quality and cost containment? All the experienced AEAs skills are not being utilized, they are just hanging in there until the end. The company is hoping the shops will absorb more labor shifting cost by doing video/photo inspection.

Complete shame ,,been in this business over 35 years and over half of those with the farm.
when i or my team members walk in a shop we able to trim the fat so we are just repairing the vehicle to prior with proper repairs and due to most of our team being from the repair side our work and reasoning were respected by the repair shops. Now i am afraid we are in a opportune extended test test due to covid to see if virtual will work one- hundred percent.
We will only be respected for a while i am afraid as the repair shops are getting tired of us using our acquaintance with them begging them to send us the documents for us to write the estimate . When the shop's know for sure they are just talking to some person somewhere else in the country on every new claim and will never have to look them in they eye they will have no mercy.,after they get the hang of it yes they will be writing them even the small guys , and those left will not be aei's or aea's ,some new term will need to be made. It may not be to late for them to recognize the experience they are going to lose just by people getting fed up but probably need to let us know there needs to be a field presence sooner than later and get us there.
