Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

If GF makes a voluntary offer

It is very unrealistic to happen, but in the hypothetical case that GF gives us the opportunity to leave voluntary, I wonder how many employees would stay here?

This is EXACTLY why they are not going to offer VSP

They are not legally obligated to create said packages - so why bother with them? Especially if they are cash strapped and can’t fund them.

There will be no packages. GF is tapped out.

2 weeks for each year of service and 16 weeks of Cobra medical benefits. They will not be offering the 90 day paid non working period this time around. Also they will be backfilling positions ( particularly technicians) by expanding supplemental contractors program. The “good news” is people impacted with layoff will be able to transfer to contractor position without losing their severance.

I think there would be a fair amount of people who would stay. these are the people who are scared to leave GF. Where else would they go without having to uproot their life and families. They will stay, keep swallowing low raises, frequent layoffs and a terrible company culture.. in 10 years time they will regret it.
