Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Return to office 1st Qtr 2025

You better get ready! The reason why you just got the extra money is because Exec is going to start bringing people back into the hubs more starting 1st quarter 2025. You will get the announcement during the 4th quarter this year. Remember, Execs never do anything out of the kindness of their hearts for the employees. You will be expected to be in office all week, every other week. Agency is demanding it too, and we all know who is running SF! Dorkie bald old fat white guys from IL and "cool" we know everything agents!

Been on a product team for 6 years. I love remote work but lets be real, everyone knows why everyone loves it. Everyone is multi-taking from home, calling into meetings then mowing the lawn, another meeting, so pick up the kids etc... Were robbing the company blind of their time but honestly it doesn't look like mgmt. really cares. Until they actually put their foot down we may as well party on ;)

How would they force everyone back when they keep hiring ..
Where will they out everyone after they get rid of office everyone space either sell or lease to other places.
Aside from from where I sit, many do better work at home. They won't be able to keep people if they force more in office time.
Never going to be the same

Work from home is great. I work hard and answer my calls. I'm not binge watching anything or playing on my phone. Been with the company 35 years. Only problem I see is the lack of knowledge in new hires. Scraping the bottom of the barrel.

AI replacing most positions better get yourself in position see how you will fit in. If they don’t know your face or who you are it won’t matter!!
Best of luck! The AI revolution is here and with the unit count bleeding better save up some $$$

Return to office = Greater expenses.

Not gonna happen!

If agents are calling for it, it’s because they are being blasted in person by customers who are screaming for it.

If it cuts costs and makes the company more competitive as well as reduces the customers costs, do it all the way up and down the chain of command. Insurance has been living too high on the hog way too long.

Wherever this talent pool is SF isn’t hiring from it now …

Return to office IS coming. There’s nothing more to it.
Those who don’t want to return will be let go with no hesitation. There is enough talent in the market right now and that talent is ready to do some quality work.

holy cow the upvote bot here. OP and first response, as usual, are the same person, who clearly doesnt work for the company. Dont answer your phone like 3 times in one week and they fire you. Most roles answering isnt a choice it just connects you. At least take the effort to learn about the roles your being paid to post about.

Not sure why someone is so motivated to do two things: 1. pretend no one is doing work due to WFH, when we are monitored more heavily and strictly than in office was like, and 2. seed the thought that we are returning to office, because SF would love to pay a huge amount for several AAA class office space in 3 bo-m towns, that provide no benefit for anything.

See SF is on like 15 year leases after selling their hub locations ages ago, you didnt know that since you dont work here. Once that is up, they will likely go down to minimal office space for the hubs (the buildings we currently sublet out at the hubs will not be renewed). This will safe the company millions per year. This will help address the fact theyve more or less burned through all the willing and qualified labor in the hubs and reach out to rural areas for workers. They will not have to pay extra for cost of living for these people. These people will be more captive since alternatives in many areas are walmart or fast food.

Again, typical bad take from this websites resident agitator and spammer.

They had to pay more because they can no longer hire new people at the rate they were paying and they dont want to hire new people for the same money as people who have been in the same role for like 5+ years. They would rather do this than just reward its workers for a good job with raises. So now everyone gets a raise due to them needing to hire more people at market rate, which its current workers were being paid below, even a new hire rate....

Completely false. They've already posted the 2025 in office cadence and it's only one week per month.

Agents could care less where you work from, as long as you are working. You see the problem right?

Oh yes @3ylx, come on and do it now execs. People in India speaking to people in Arkansas about an intersection or a stop sign. Let's do a total loss. You'll get your millions of course execs, for the brilliance of saving all that money.

If your job can be done at home it can be outsourced for a fraction of the cost. Outsource now execs.

The only thing I miss about the office is the printer and copy machine. They aren’t enough to make it worth it though.

Cut the WFH and WFH mgmt and increase span of control in hubs while staffing up in hubs. Saves employee processing cost/expenses. Makes sense. WFH is replaceable.

Try it. My entire unit would walk out. We’ve had many discussions on this very topic. We hold the cards. Managers are shaking in their boots.

It’s a power struggle. The sword cuts both ways. Each move made has a response and reaction. So neither really always has the upper hand. However, today’s employee is a lot less willing to put up with any cr-p and will leave in an instant. Especially the people with 3 years or less invested into a company. Then they’ll go on various social media and air it out.

All you folks need to grow up. Back in the day people had to work instead of complaining with all these comments in this post.

Power has shifted to the employees? What kind of comment is that.

If you were the CEO and had to run your company, would you allow this to happen?

they do that and i will leave , no amount of raise of salary can make up for the extra 4 hours of my life wasted driving to and from work plus the extra expense of gas and wear and tear, if they think they are understaffed they will crumble when this happens, I do not care about your opinion , so the door will hit me on the way back so be it and i will be smiling with my middle fingers up ... i dont think the "raise" is connected to return to office , its connected to the fact that all of our competitors pay more than statefarm to start out so much so that people dont last more than a month and take better offers, its the whole reason why they cant seem to be able to hire enough people and they are loosing people too fast, also i wonder how are they going to do this if this is really happening because the hubs have no room, they sub leased half the buildings , the whole reason why everyone is alternating weeks is because the buildings are always in use by different segments for each week, which means if they pull this you can only bring in so many people before you are out of room, even doing 2 weeks in a row may not work, as it is the 1 week people show up is always tight and have no place to put new people in and if you happen to show on a week not assigned due to system issue or pc issue there is never room to accommodate you its a pain as it is.

Not going to happen. The power has shifted from managers to employees. Exec has no power over the employees. Try to bring us back to the office full time. You’ll find out how little power you have. We run the show.

Mentoring is also being pushed more recently and probably tied into that. Dragging people in office would be good for that. That 10 extra cents an hour will really make it worth while.

Can confirm. Hybrid more often and remote hires will be forced to be in an office. Wonder who will stay once the rug is pulled out from under them. Younger generation wants flexible work and the soon to be retirees who can still control things, only have a social life while at work which is why they want people there.

return to work for some people seems like Super Bowl for Bear fans. You know you win one preseason game and you walk around in a heat of summer with their Bear knitcaps on for Christ sake

All these comments seem like shills are posting. If they are doing this then they need to stop enticing people with “Hybrid” on their job postings. Those people will stay even shorter than do now even.

Depending on what happens in November will dictate the world situation and the economy. It is a safe bet for State Farm regadless of each policies, it is a wise decision to bring those work from home to the hubs. Not only financially but for security for the company and the employees.

Let's hope so. Service is much better when people are in office, doing their job and sharing feedback with peers. Claims has always been a really hard job--especially auto claims. But the way we used to get good at it was by learning from the more experienced rep in the cubicle to our left, and sharing what we knew with the new rep in the cubicle behind us.

Yes that makes a little more sense now. Plus I hear Execs are running reports because people are not answering their phones. That will also be their excuse too to bring people back. No one wants to talk about all the useless id--ts that keep getting hired by HR, useless hub locations, and when a supervisor does try to fire lazy people, HR blocks everything that leadership tries to do. This company is messed up!
