Thread regarding Ford layoffs

H1b abuse at Ford

After seeing the H1b debate on twitter made me think how abusive and prevalent this visa scam is at Ford. I see Indian managers who only hire other Indians on h1b and discriminate against others. Should H1b visa be stopped for companies who lay off American workers?

Must be one he-l of a Diploma mill to consistently produce so many VCs, CEOs and executives of American Fortune 500 companies.

The IITs are Diploma mills. Give them 100 Rupees and they print you out a Diploma.

The IITs are nowhere near Ivy League quality. The highest ranked IIT is IIT Mumbai with a global ranking of 118. In comparison Chile beats out India at 93 and Mexico beats out India at 94. Mind you, IIT Mumbai is supposed to be India's version of the Ivy League.

A B.Tech is determined by the Sydney accord. So India is basically pumping out a whole bunch of Devry like Engineering Technologist. 60% of their undergraduate degrees are at that level.

A B Tech degree in India is equivalent to a B. Eng. In fact, the IITs, india's equivalent of the Ivy league, grants B. Techs as their flagship degrees. It's very common and no one distinguishes between the two.

So, it sounds like Mr. h1b non-engineer Sriram Krishnan, got in through the old DEI scam.

The guy who the h1b discussion started over, Sriram Krishnan, does not even have an engineering degree (B.Eng). He has an engineering tech (B.Tech) degree. His path into tech was a path they won't even let Americans in through. That right there sums up the path of mediocrity.

You hit the nail on the head. I see so many H1B with offshore bachelor's and US master's degree that know less than someone with a US bachelor's degree.

I think the net effect is that it devalues the master degree. It no longer means anything, it's just a money grab by the US universities.

There is more foreign students because they give them direct admission into engineering Grad school not with an Engineering degree (B.Eng), but also to and Engineering Technology degrees (B.Tech).

Only 40% of Indian undergrads have the equivalent of an American engineering degree, but the universities will take anyone for a raised cost.

forget about h1 ... have you been to any major universities... say top 20? you will see alot more non-white/black in their engineering and science programs.
ask yourself why is it?

@1kqu+1wbudA6Z -Thanks to great leaders like Senator Grassley and Scott, no Indian is going to see a green card anytime soon. There is a reason Indians are so meek and are willing to work for lower pay and at abusive work places, because they have to wait for a decade or more to get green card.

1/2 of the salary workforce at Tesla are Indian. They will be getting green cards and then citizenships after working in the US for 5 years.

Its time to end H1-Bs and invest in American workers. Its all a scheme by companies to take away power of the the worker and lower costs. You can report suspected violations of the program to the US Department of Labor.

Good point. Because education in America is expensive. Education in Europe is free for Europeans.
In Europe foreigners have to pay to get a degree. For residents it is free.
In the US everybody has to pay to get a degree.

At a French top University like Princeton, a French person can study for free.
At Princeton in the US it is so expensive that only rich people can afford to send their kids which means there is plenty of space for foreign kids.

* We need to make Universities free for Americans *

I live through this visa scam daily. My Indian manager since getting hired has essentially replaced all American workers and replaced them with Indians. He does it very subtly so no one notices, he has on numerous occasions cancelled 1/1s with me and other American members of the team and does not assign us critical tasks he prefers to give them to his own countrymen. At first I didn't really notice it or care but this whole debate has made me really think about what is really happening. We went from having 2 H1b visa holders (including the manager) to 5 or 6 now after some Americans left because they were unsure about their job and manager did not provide clear direction or put them in critical projects. Now I don't think we will hire more Americans because the manager is quite happy with his H1b countrymen. Deep down I am sure he probably hates Americans because we ask tough questions and don't just work like robots. Although my ex American teammates were all exceptional, some of the best engineers Ive worked with and constantly delivered high quality work, sometimes even working on weekends and earned department wide recognition before this guy was brought in. I guess this is probably what's happening everyone in tech and engineering but this is just my 2c's. I am also desperately searching for other jobs because I am constantly fearful of getting laid off from Ford especially since I know my manager does not have my back.

Illegal immigrant and h1b are neither cheap labor nor extra talented. Its a scheme to replace American so that they wind up working where security clearance needed and give life for his country , in a country not his own .

There are lots of HI-B's still in the country, that lost their jobs and never left the Country even after not finding another job in the 60-day period. It's supposed to be a compatible job they need to find. But they scam trying to do that too. If H1B was an engineer who got laid off, they can't get a landscaping job cutting grass to remain in the country.

They post on Reedit all the time looking for some loophole even if illegal to remain in the country.

There is a whole cottage industry of lawyers that defend these H1-B scam artist visa overstays. Most the lawyers are foreign born themselves and should lose their license to practice law over the ethics issues surrounding their work. But to them, it's all about the Benjamins.

They are not paid less than US-based workers. In some cases, they make slightly more, for the the same job. They are very obedient to management. It they are laid off, they need to leave the USA, unless they get another job.

If you are laid off on an H1B visa, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new employer and transfer your H1B status, or to leave the United States; if you don't find a new job within that timeframe, you must depart the country to maintain legal status.

I know one thing, if the intent was to bring in elite performers, sure as heck isn't doing that. Should be used sparingly. Being let in is a privilege. Hate the people who were born here all you want. We have our own issues. But you should raise the bar if your being welcomed in.

Poll: 60% of Americans Says U.S. Does Not Need Any More H-1B Visa Workers

The majority of likely American voters says the United States does not need any more foreign H-1B visa workers to fill white-collar jobs, a new poll finds.

A Rasmussen Reports survey reveals that 6-in-10 Americans say the U.S. “already has enough talented people to train and recruit” for white-collar jobs when asked whether Congress should increase the inflow of foreign workers, primarily those arriving through the H-1B visa program.

Meanwhile, just 26 percent of Americans say Congress should increase the number of foreign visa workers taking white-collar jobs.

Republicans and swing voters, in particular, say the U.S. has enough American talent for such jobs and does not need more foreign visa workers.

The survey shows that 72 percent of Republicans, 63 percent of swing voters, and a plurality of 47 percent of Democrats say the U.S. has talented people who can be trained and recruited for open white-collar jobs.

For years, Breitbart News has chronicled the fraud and abuse within the H-1B visa program where white-collar Americans are laid off and forced to train their foreign replacements, primarily from India and China.

While corporations lay off Americans in white-collar jobs to import foreign H-1B visa workers, hundreds of thousands of young college-educated Americans enter the workforce every year looking for entry-level jobs with decent salaries.

Annually, about half a million American graduates enter the STEM workforce looking for high-paying jobs with good benefits packages. Their chances of landing such a job are cut significantly with the annual inflow of tens of thousands of foreign H-1B visa workers who will compete directly against them in the white-collar labor market.

In President-elect Donald Trump’s first term, the administration reformed the H-1B visa program to better ensure that companies were not wrongfully firing Americans only to hire foreign visa workers.

By 2022, though, President Joe Biden gutted those reforms and allowed corporations that had been denied foreign H-1B visa workers by the Trump administration to reapply.

It makes me sick that HR allows Indian managers to hire primarily Indian workers not just at Ford, but at many of the high tech companies in this country. Oh yes they do this much better than any other countries. I have first hand experience at a Ford facility that the 95% of an engineering team are Indians, and many of which just dont know how to speak in a complete sentence in English. Interacting with that team has been super difficult, I don’t think many of those qualified for highly skilled workers.

I support H1B but not the H1B abuse, in this case, unfair recruitment.

H1b visas, mostly Indians, may never get green card in their lifetime or citizenship. They may end up paying millions in taxes to US government by remaining legal immigration status for 30 yrs +. These visas only benefits government and now Trump wants to bring in more of them!!!

One data point, but I had a H1B for a while as a Ford employee. Started as OPT, then won the H1B lottery. My job posting (business role) was open and public, and I know for a fact several other people interviewed for it. My compensation was pretty average for my role at the time. I eventually got a green card through another path (Ford wouldn't sponsor me).
