So I am curious to know if it's just me or not. I have applied to like 5 positions in the last 2 years and know 2 friends that have applied multiple positions as well with allstate. (We all work there). Everytime they reject us they say it's because of the BDI interview questions. I have had interviews where I could tell the interviewer didn't even loon at my resume. I just don't understand how allstate can base hiring off of 3 or 4 BDI questions and disregard you past experience and past performance. I'm open to hear others views and experiences they had. Maybe me and my two friends are outliers

Internal transfer or position change has been decreasing for a long time. When they did the 3,800 layoff in 2010, those people had to apply for a job in the four new consolidated service centers and I think we all knew who a mojority would be considered to be rehired.
@3rlu+1hovdeh5 you are obviously not in TA, do you realize 80% of the hires in 2021 were diverse (not white men or women), my group was told half of the candidates presented to the HM have to be diverse whether qualified or not, I can tell you first hand diverse employees have been hired that were not at all the best qualified. We have hired some outstanding diverse candidates that were hired but hiring those that aren't qualified just cheapens the hiring process.
This company is a joke. So to get a promotion they list jobs and then tell the current employees that they should apply. So a waste of the employees time to update their resume and the recruiters time to interview. What about just saying your doing a great job and we are promoting you. Soooooooo those that are applying don’t beat yourself up about not getting the job. This is just the internal BS that this company has lowered itself to. Move on and be happy that you do.
Pretty racists posts coming from employees of the most woke company in the insurance industry
OR MAYBE you all just didn't realize how many minorities work in Customer service, administration, etc? Look up some damn statistics. There are whole depts that were majority minority. You all just thought working at home would replicate your office where you never come across so many minorities. This whole post is giving boomer energy.
I’m a minority. Just left Allstate a few months ago, I applied to tons of jobs within Allstate some that I had experience in and some I didn’t, I was rejected not even given an interview for any and was told they wanted someone more experience and would rather the positions weren’t filled. I believe they are trying to hire from outside.
I applaud the last post. Let's take race out of this. The issue is allstate has a random advancement formula where they don't take into account experience and skill set
"If you aren't a minority, they won't hire you." Really? So somehow white ppl namely white men aren't being hired and yet white ppl account for 95% of the lead positions and upper management? Gtfo You guys are full of it. I think some of you forget that there are many minorities in your same position who haven't been able to progress to different roles. You're not special.
I have applied for multiple postings and haven’t even gotten an interview. They hired from outside instead. The frustrating part is the posting read exactly like what I currently do, just in another area.
In many cases if you are hired into a department where it is hard to retain employees then you are stuck there. Behind the scenes they don't consider you for movement if you are half decent at what you do in such a hard to retain department. You would have a better chance leaving on good terms where you are rehirable and then coming back applying for those positions right away. You are stuck...until of course you are laid off.
I had decades of Allstate experience in different departments. Great reviews. Multiple certifications. Leadership experience.. and couldn’t even get to the pre screen interview on multiple postings I was clearly qualified for. They don’t want to advance existing employees. Very sad. Left on my own this spring. No package, no offer. Just went. Couldn’t be a part of it anymore.
It’s you
Are you a minority? If not you may be out of luck. And yes the BDI questions are heavily weighted. It’s a ridiculous philosophy that just knowing how to answer a certain style of question is their gauge on how well you’d fit in. Even for internal postings the company doesn’t really look at your background or accomplishments. They’ve got boatloads of unqualified leaders in very important positions throughout claims that don’t have any clue what they’re doing. And they wonder why the results are so poor.
Still a big push to hire "diverse" candidates, if you are not diverse you should look at other companies that will look at you based on your resume and experience.
Unless you are g-y, female or a minority you don't have a chance. If you are all 3 you will be fast tracked to vp soon.
When they “loon” at your resume, they think you are like most Allstate employees- can’t cover the basics like spelling
They need bodies now, to handle the screwed up claims situation. They probably don’t want to move you. Feel bad for whoever is hired, especially if they leave a different job at a different company, because then they’ll get laid off when the job goes to India.
Would be interesting to know who got the job so you could do some kind of comparison. They hire who they want and aren’t really hiring from within during these times. They are beefing up India.
