Earning is Monday October 30th before the bell.
@3mvc+1p8t7BSG while prices are forecasted to rise, DRAM has the AI tailwind, NAND catches a breeze. A year or two away from a meaningful PC refresh cycle after the COVID pop.
aiming to close the deal before earnings, so buckle for what follows
NAND prices are increasing. According to reports it will be at an all time high by next year.
Has this been confirmed? Is it just Flash BU or is this expected to impact HDD also?
If the merger happens HDD would separate from the newly formed Kioxtern Digital company which would be “right-sized”. The problem still remains, WD and Kioxia portfolios and quality, can’t compete with Samsung, not even if they merge and join forces. Not to mention nand pricing is still taking a toll on both companies. Merging can’t fix that.
If there is merge, expect big layoff. If there is no Marge, expect a layoff too. Boss suggested me to polish resume
a fail to merge seems to elevate the risk of layoffs because there's debt to refinance next year at potential higher interest rates, and that debt has to be serviced
It will be just before Thanksgiving
If there is no merge then there will be significantly less amount of people getting laid off. Mostly on the hdd side and some on ssd side. But a lot less since no merge
OP, what do you know? Can you give dates? Is this purely speculation? I’m wondering if the merger doesn’t go through does that mean no layoffs? Maybe we should be rooting for it not yo go through?
what is the fu--ing business of Hynix here?

Dont worry WD executives will get $10,000,000s in bonuses. Good luck to everyone else.
Layoff is coming in November. I also expect the merge/spin announcement.
If it's another round of layoffs, I didn't see it on the latest WARN notice yet. It is only a couple weeks left before November, so either we'll know in a few days or OP is lying.
I'm sure the HDD split and Kioxia merge will be announced soon.
What percent?
I think it’s operation fubar
Yep bonus points if you know the code name for it.
