Horrible work culture

And it's getting worse by the day. When I started here four years ago it was not ideal but it was barrable. Fast forward to today and I'm desperately trying to find a way out. I want to work where cooperation is encouraged instead of competition. I'm tired of my coworkers trying to stab me in the back just to score a few points with our manager. That's not a healthy work environment. I'm pretty much done with it.

Some of the benefits of working in a bank are excellent work environment, good benefits and great pay. I can openly express my opinion at company meetings. My voice is being heard. I can openly disagree with my colleagues and my manager without fearing retaliation.

During my last days at Sabre, I had to constantly worry that I may say something that the program manager dislikes. Then I would be added to the layoff list. I heard the executive team speak about marginalized employees, I started to wonder what exactly that meant and if I was one of them. I had to constantly watch my back because every one was looking for a scapegoat when there was a major issue or severity. I had to witness nepotism, husband and wife working in the same department. My manager was looking for reasons to diminish my performance so that Sabre will not have to pay me a salary increase. In fact, the manager should have been looking for ways to promote my work. The moral of story is that when budgets are low, management and the executive team was looking for ways to diminish individual contribution and accomplishments. I should have left Sabre earlier, staying there was a mistake.

Big improvements coming with team performance scheme, until whole teams are dinged for a few slower mates.

Working in a bank is no better than working in any other company. Trust me, I have worked for several banks as a permanent employee and as a contractor.

Find a job in a bank. People are happy there and most people are willing to help. Diversity and inclusion, and respect to the employee can go a long way. Of course, there are always exceptions. The exceptions that I found are two Indians who came from Goldman. I try to avoid them as the plaque and my colleagues do the same.
