HR…

Someone may want to let the VP of HR know that her message “on Wednesday we wear pink” promoting anti bullying, is a quote from the movie Mean Girls

The "rant" from @3kdl+1frjDU8W is bang on. Unless you are of value to them, HR is not your friend. Period. Ever. It attracts the lowest of the low. If you are in a situation where you have to engage HR, get everything in writing. Tell them that. If they push back stand your ground. If they contact you via cell phone, have a recording app running and record everything. Canada and Alberta are one consent jurisdictions. So as long as you consent, it's all good and you don't have to tell them anything. They can fire you but you can fire them. Look after YOUR interests.

Agreed. HR represents the employer. Your Union representative would represent the employee.

People just need to remember HR is not there to help the employees. They are there to protect the company. They keep the company in legal compliance and out of potential lawsuits etc.. They are not there to help you as an individual, unless of course you are VP and above as then you can help their individual careers, kind of a you scratch my back I scratch yours. That’s why there are more managers and senior staff/specialists in HR than any other department/ per capita. It’s always funny when Alex tells you to talk to your HR rep if you have any concerns, I mean when’s the last time you could actually get one on the phone? They don’t answer at all and if you do hear back you get an email response. The HR people switch roles every few months so there’s no relationship there. I’ve never actually seen one at a team meeting, unless of course it’s the VPs meeting and then they’re happy to spout off in front of the VP or SVP to look good. Sorry for long rant, HR just burns me up inside.

How is this behaviour being tolerated, especially in the HR department? How is a Director allowed to function this way? Report her using the Integrity Help Line!!! It is confidential and anonymous!!!

Our Director is a brutal bully. Everyone under her knows it and are afraid to speak up. She was a bully when we were at Husky and surprise she’s a bully now. Nothing was done there and I don’t expect anything to be done here.

It's like the movie Mean Girls. Only difference is the women in that movie are now all attractive.
