I really don't have the feeling that OXY is backfilling a lot of jobs, as someone says here. Moreover, I am quite frustrated waiting for the colleague who left to finally be replaced. At this point I doubt that it will ever happen at all. What is your opinion about backfilling jobs in the company now?

@4vpr+1iiSxYRU, you must be new to Oxy.
Why can’t people just worry about doing a great technical job, communicating a a clear way, and being friendly and respectful to those around them. If you do that you don’t have to kiss a-s or suck up or whatever you call it.
Great life philosophy. You should write a motivational book.
@3jsj+1iiSxYRU, time to return that employee of the month award. You’re a real roll model.
OP you can join me downstairs having coffee breaks rather than picking up the extra workload hoping that they will hire someone soon to unload from you. You can put some pressure on management like letting couple of bad wells drilled, production dropping faster, incomplete deliverables, or completely missing key deadlines.
If you are too scare to do any of these and enjoy extra coffee breaks like me, then suck up and work like a dog.

Don’t worry. They added more layers to the org. They will help find a way for you to do your job better so that they don’t need to hire more people
It is not just Oxy. That is the way the world works. Don’t give up because one day your hard work will pay off.
When you take a job offer at Oxy you are expected to do the work of almost two maybe a bit more. That is if you are part of the 20% that gets things done. Your performance will be assessed average. The rest of the staff coast along without problems, somehow, some get graded better than you. Does it makes sense?
They are not backfilling in order to avoid laying people off. The anticipated recession and oversupply of world oil is going to lower oil prices down into the 50s. At that point the industry will be hurting once again.
What’s the point in backfilling if you’re doing the work of two people well? They won’t backfill until you sc--w up.
