Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

COVID 19 - Layoff Alternative

If statistics hold, we may actually "lay off" about 550 people due to death by COVID-19. Not trying to be morbid, these are facts.

HR or "People Team" don't get any ideas about moving us back to Tier 1 to up the numbers please.

Well said. The managers & directors we've been exposed to are excellent. Sabre needs to dump all the lazy, unproductive chaff. Stay mission critical.

Yea, we said that.

Those people are mission critical. They're safe.

So far the names of the people leaving are the managers and directors that have been sitting around just waiting for retirement. They won't be missed but glad they are finally going.

Everyone who leaves or gets laid off says the same thing, 'how is Sabre going to survive without ME??'

We will. Your job was sooo important, I'm sure it couldn't possibly be done by a low cost center. LMFAO 😂

Just wait for the system to crash and there is no one around who knows how to fix it! Who do you think has kept the system working all these years. Knowledge and experience out the door because it is no longer appreciated! Good luck dumb–s!

If you've been around forever and now taking advantage of the retirement package because it suits you then you probably are one of the sub mediocre mgrs or directors we can easily do without. Thank you for leaving.

Mgrs and directors may appear mediocre because they spend an inordinate amount of time behind closed doors attempting to motivate some mo–n who spends more time on the Internet grousing and griping how they’d do it if they were in charge. Yeah right, most of you have to be reminded to fill out your time so you can get paid.

With this many negative people posting here I’m happy to be leaving.

So far the ones retiring in Delivery have just been waiting around Sabre to retire and have done very little over the last few years. Good riddance.

I suspect the arrogance of the real problem children will outlast the current offers unfortunately. The bad ones have no where to go and no confidence in their lackluster skill-sets especially in a poor market. They will probably only leave if they are forced to.

what are you saying? in my experience 100% of directors are mediocre at their job. Managers with talent I can count with one hand.

Heard from several of the mgrs and directors they took the packages after "several years of thinking about leaving". These are the people who have been dragging Sabre down by being mediocre at best. They have been milking it from Sabre for years and finally found a way out that even milks it during this crisis. I'm glad they are leaving and can only hope it saves the people who do the real work every day.

As stated by @2pvt+14havXwo - Some of the useless managers and directors who were coasting along grabbed the enhanced package. When was the last time you heard Sabre laid off managers and directors? These are the protected class. How come positions keep moving to low cost locations but manager and director positions stay in HDQ?

Hopefully many of the old directors and managers who have just been coasting along will finally feel like leaving now. No had the guts to just get rid of them over the last few years.

The problem with their 'enhanced severance packages (for volunteers to protect them from early layoffs) is they are only really 'enhanced' for those who have been there less than 3 or so years (getting a higher minimum than they would get otherwise). And of course for the Directors and above levels - getting 6 months minimum even if they have only been there 1 year. That is c-ap! The ones, like me, who have put in 8+ years get nothing 'enhanced' - the 'minimum' that is being paid out to incentivizing the volunteers is what I am entitled to as part of my seniority/level. Their team making these decisions is not making equitable ones. And their communication and response to those in the meantime is pretty ill prepared.

Wishful thinking things will improve with a flatter organization. Couple the brain drain with the experienced people leaving and straddled with outdated technology that lacks the innovation needed and the future is as bright as a night without the moon.

It is a shame because it was once a great company.

Most of the directors and VP already opted for 39 week severance on the base salary so they all are secure up to December with their high end salaries. It’s bad for other people whose severance package was not that fancy and they decided to hang on. Now in lay-off those people will only suffer. Rats leave the sinking ship first.. Lol

They need to start looking at all the directors, all the junior VPs, etc, so much dead weight at the top. It removes the most expensive people from the mix and will raise morale. We can easily work together if more of us are working for the same director. It will help remove silos too.
