Thread regarding Frontier Communications Corp. layoffs

Unions

If the Unions genuinely care about job security, why on Earth would they do everything they can think of to try and make our company unsuccessful. Seems like kinda crazy logic, but perhaps logic isn't their strong point ;-)

I thought no skill = management. All the managers I know that started as craft were HORRIBLE at their job but knew how to suck up to their superiors. Managers only seem to be in place to be "the bad guy" and do the dirty work of the Director above them. Sheep.

Why do people persist in the ridiculous term 'craft'? It's like something from 1850. Field teams are skilled, management teams are skilled. We need both for our company to work. Let's ditch the them and us, there is only one company, lets work for a successful future together.

Welp we see they have regrouped and redoubled their anti union efforts. Lol "mafia" pathetic. Hans got a 12% raise last year. How much did you get?

Who's 'Hans'?

There's a lot of uninformed, non-fact based opinion here. It's a fact the the company's revenue and margins are still declining. Until that changes there is no 'success' to share around. And anything that I'd shared has to come from reductions elsewhere.

Awww, what's the matter post @3gfo+1i4AdnPQ? Can't find a job as a mafia thug and unions won't even give you the time of day? Sounds like you're perfect for middle management. Frontier is always hiring sacrificial lambs...

That's a bit of an exaggeration, don't you think? But, since we're talking about compensation, I'll play along.

$75 per hr. is not that unrealistic when you compare it to John Stratton's hourly rate of roughly $25,000 per hr. Since he's salaried, 4 hours of paid breaks are automatic and unrecorded (I assume)... and we can fill in the blanks about how much paid vacation he enjoys. His insurance covers himself, his family and probably the pets, forever.

It's all a matter of perspective, after all. Maybe if management stopped looking down at us as the "greedy hourly employees who are never satisfied" for a moment and realized how utterly absurd that sounds coming from people making in 2 hours what we make in a year, we could finally meet in the middle and make some progress.

Can you give us ONE PIZZA PARTY and let us decide whether or not it's insulting? Or maybe just some hazard pay for exposing ourselves to a pandemic for the last 3 years just to install your sh---y dsl? I'll take ham and pineapple, BTW.

We don't give pizza parties because you guys have made it clear that you see it as insulting.
You want $75/hr. 4 hours of paid breaks each day. 24 weeks paid vacation. Full health coverage for you, you immediate and extended family. All while saying you're not being selfish and greedy.
If we're not giving you that, it's insignificant.

The unions do want the company to be successful, if you'd do a little homework into the history of unions and the historic fight with corporate America, you would understand that. If the company fails, the union fails too. However, if the company succeeds, is it really too much to ask for the people that made that success possible to share in the success? It's not like we're asking for multi-million dollar bonuses, or expense accounts, or golden umbrella severance packages... all of which the executive side enjoys currently. We would like, however, a bit more than empty promises and electronic "atta-boy" messages... and Starbucks gift cards.... and pizza parties.

My guess is that the company's success only impacts the executives and board of directors. Nothing ever trickles down to the craft level or even the lower management levels. We peons at the ground level just keep getting shafted regardless of the financial situation this company is in, and it's getting to the point where the threat of layoffs no longer really has an impact on many of us. A steady paycheck from a horribly neglectful (and borderline abusive) company shouldn't be our end goal. If the unions weren't in place I would imagine NONE of us would have a job at a living wage because Frontier seems to value a topheavy management structure and would just sub out the rest.
