Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Arvind Krishna, CEO of IBM, Selected as 2024 Hunt Scanlon 'Excellence in Culture' Award Recipient

There has to be some tight tie-up between some high-ranking IBMers and folks at Hunt Scanlon in order for them to bestow this award upon AK. Otherwise it's one he||uva grand joke.

Like all participation awards, this Hunt-Scanlon thing is like an episode of Seinfeld..."a show about nothing". It is worthy of mention only because IBM is currently lacking anything more substantial to talk about...like business success, for instance.

Wow! A 2024 Hunt Scanlon 'Excellence in Culture' Award for your CEO, and the distinction of filing the most patents last year. I don't know how you BM'ers sleep at night with all the excitement!

Do they take Bluepoints ?

Maybe they have a special deal for IBM execs if Bluepoints are used - Two Fake trophies for the price of one. Hang one in your office and drive around with the other in your limo.

Amaze your friends and impress your enemies.

This award is as meaningful as anyone going to their local Crown and Trophy location and making a trophy for themselves

turns out that Hunt-Scanlon is a POS company (with around 50 employees) giving a meaningless POS award to a pathetic POS CEO (AK) who is cheap enough to pay for it and hang it in his office.

That's a lot of POS stuff to go around and clog the Armonk drains. LOL !

The Hunt Scanlon award is interesting for what it is, and for what it is not. Hunt Scanlon is a media and PR firm that specializes in executive searches, mergers and aquisitions and "human capital management" (glorified HR if you ask me). For a long time, IBM executives have chased every trendy thing in the world of business, and that includes awards of questionable significance from big names in the business management world.

To put it another way...IBM executives are living in their own dream world, where they sniff their own farts, inhale their own supply, follow every pointless trend, and adhere to every other cliche you can think of. That includes, by the way, accepting every participation award from whichever firm on Wall Street will give it to them.

You can ignore it all, as I'm sure you already have. It is an award of no lasting significance.

Is there an award for excellence in bull sh***ing @IBM ? I am sure that there are several executives and managers who could be successfully nominated for such an award.

just mentioning this so AK doesn't feel so lonely with his undeserved no value award from a no name entity.

Be careful what you wish for - AK, the id--t CEO might get terminated for cause from IBM and show up at Taco Bell as your new and improved shift supervisor. That wouldn't look good .....

Hilarious post and link which generated a lot of laughs when read especially since this Hunt Scanlon award isn't anything to write home about unlike the top awards like the Nobel prize, the Oscars, Pulitzer prize, Michelin Star award etc.

Below are some observations on the write up :

  1. How much did IBM and AK pay for this worthless award ? If the award was so widely known, how come it's not so well known using a Google search ? Is it one of AK's mediocre achievements that he would rather not brag about on w3 or on his slack channel of fame?
  1. If AK's leadership of IBM is that good and inclusive, why and how is it that IBM continues to face (and lose in court) multiple lawsuits for age discrimination, stealing commissions from the hard working sales-people and the perpetual offshoring of US jobs (no lawsuits on that one as yet) to his favored South Asian country? Maybe Miz Nickel and Dime can answer that one too, since she is part and parcel of this joke.
  1. IBM's culture is at best a joke and a lie at worst, just like it's AI - after all, IBM is the only AI company which doesn't create or build any useful AI to speak of. Yes, AK and his senior crooks in the executive ranks try hard at first, but then the AI projects just fall by the wayside after six months, the funding dries up, then layoffs happen and the project is a forgotten story as the still bright eyed executives go in the search for a new vision of plunder and pillage. Hope lies in the breasts of the bumbling. There is never the satisfaction of a completed project to amaze and delight the majority of the IBM customers. Same applies to the sad, worthless and dead culture inside IBM.
