Working from home suits me perfectly, although I know it won’t be able to last forever. Even though the work/ life balance is a little more disturbed now, it suits me much better. I have noticed that I am much more productive. I do things with ease and much faster. A colleague tells me however that he can’t concentrate while working from home.

@4hus+19PQNKhx you sound like you belong in 1950's. Do women wearing pants to work scares you as much WFH does? Sure sounds like it. Adapt to change and technology, old bird, and revel in efficiencies. Who cares what other people do with their time as long as work is being cranked out? You have no control over your coworkers personal time whether or not you are management. Get used to it and don't get a heart attack =).
@4oqh+19PQNKhx this is what I thought. Sounds like most of us adapted to WFH splendidly.
@3dyl+19PQNKhx I passed the first 4 person panel interview with flying colors 10 years ago and i passed a 5 person panel interview again 2 years ago to switch departments. Oxy pays me to work, and so I work hard and make small talk at appropriate times as to not waste company's time. It sounds like you like wasting company's time congregating and not leaving your co-workers offices... how awkward.
Interesting. So if you are still paying for a nanny under wfh, what are you really benefiting from. You don’t get any diversity to your day. Stay at home, walk the dog, go to the store. Every day is like Saturday. Might as well be old and retired.
By the way a few years ago only losers worked from home because no serious company would hire them. Do you want to be a loser? Maybe so.
Those of us with small children are wfh just fine now after the initial hurdle of last spring/summer. they have nannies or day care or another parent, just like when we are at the office. It’s all manageable.
You must be one of those who doesn’t like small talk either. Do you frown at people or smile at them in passing? Maybe you missed the lecture on normal human interactions and bonding. How did ever get past the interview?
Yes, I focus so much better without constant interactions from people who like to congregate about nothing every hour and peer pressured into joining them. Plus, I put back into work the HOURS I saved from commuting in Houston traffic.
I totally get that children can be a huge distraction though, but why aren't they in daycare or with caregivers as if you are at work? I don't have any kids so I don't understand that part so forgive me for not being able to sympathize.
or those that act like small children...
It works very well for me. I was surprised at how much more productive and how much more I get done daily while WFH. But it doesn't work for everyone, especially those with small children, etc.
