Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

There is life after this job

I was laid off after 8 years with the company in 2019. I never looked back and now I'm an independent consultant doing what I love. There is life after this job, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Life is truly better after SF. Cut grass, ran chain saw, worked on vehicle, a warm cup of coffee watching the sun come up on a cold fall day, managing game, building a fire, watching the critters play, getting your hands dirty, plowing, making meetings in the county, etc. All much better than logging on that computer having some pencil neck metrics you to death, all while juggling 9 bazillion tasks. Yes for sure! Life is better than that corporate cluster F!

You have to be an on the spot thinker for customer service jobs. Anyone that collects a check more than you feels they could do your job in their sleep. Trust me I’ve heard them talk.

I’ve had nothing but success in interviews, and personal clients explaining my work/educational transition. Especially people that started out near the bottom in life. Honesty is 99.9% of life’s battle.

Most people are black and white, or 1 trick pony thinkers. They can’t adapt to working their way up, especially on their own. Most humans rely on others.

So if you find success in claims, in theory you should find success with whatever skill you want to learn, and use. Don’t let these people hold you back, or tear down your confidence.

Depends, if you lived your life in claims or underwriting, you might be shocked to see your opportunities, which are often pay cuts at a new insurance company that doesnt respect experience from state farm, or, you get lucky.

Ill put it this way, even State Farm doesnt care about your experience in claims or underwriting outside of those departments, and often dont care in these departments themselves. Now think what another company in a more competitive industry will see your SF experience?

It would be absolutely wonderful to know how many people who work at SF peruse this yet fear to speak their mind about the business honestly because they fear their leadership and/or are too lazy to leave. Yes! Life is much healthier and satisfying after drinking their Kool AID.

@1hvf he/she didn’t leave 8 years ago, try 3. But I will say after 8 years you’re probably making 60k, just guessing. Yeah not hard to replace that. It’s those of us here over 20 years making six figures with a pension that may find it difficult to replace….

@1vrs. His/her/their opinion is important. This is why SF employees are so hostile by the remarks you make. Maybe try listening and making an effort as to why they feel the way they do in contrast to the shout them down and namecall like a bully. Remember the bully always gets put to rest.

Do you also still stalk ex girlfriends on Facebook from 8 years ago?

Something seems very wrong about posting here 8 years after leaving.

Absolutely correct. Life is not all about SF. There are so many other constructive ways to help people and make a decent income.
