GSSO Rumors No More

After today’s call, it is confirmed there will be no specialists. This is going to be a complete debacle. With no experts that can go deep on specific solutions, the competition is going to easily win. We will not even be able to compete. The target of 7% growth is a dream and laughable for two reasons. 1 - The market is growing double digits and we have a goal of 7% goal. 2 - Without having deep expertise, the competition is going to have it easy. This is going to turn into negative growth.

What are they thinking in this move to no specialists. Where are the leaders that should be questioning this.

She has been a huge failure so far at Cisco. She acts like she is so tough but she is a complete disaster. She has no clue what she is doing. Her call last week proved it.

As it stands it is an almighty mess that has developed on CR’s watch.

You obviously never dealt with any of Cisco's products from 20-25 years ago. The different software and hardware forwarding architectures never behaved the same and architectural choices were made in each to optimize what the customer cared for at the expense of what they likely wouldn't, and when the customers tested the corner cases and saw the boxes choke it was all hands on deck to help the customer understand either why it wasn't relevant to their use case or how to work around it.

Cisco used to make it easy to fully understand this stuff through documentation. At least for some modern platforms the documentation is still out there but you have to dig harder to find it. As much as I dislike Cisco one of the reasons I still buy Cisco is because unlike their competitors that information is available and I get the support in understanding the tradeoffs to get a more optimal solution. With your competitors you're lucky if you can even find basic documentation and you have to derive the limitations not from a 10-20 page architectural presentation but sifting through thousands of pages of CLI documentation which may still not present you with what you need to know.

Meraki is the way forward for Cisco and everything is going to fall into that model.

@1qay Easy to quote. Easy to license. Easy to install. Easy to troubleshoot. Said nobody of Cisco products. Meraki may be the one exception which is why it ramped so quickly over the last 6 years.

Ciscos sales motions are way too complex. It needs dramatic simplification as do all the products, licensing and support processes. As it stands it is an almighty mess that has developed on CR’s watch. Every single deal and action is bespoke to that customer/deal that requires intimate knowledge of the AM and SA. It is not sustainable to continue like this. Technology should not be this complex to consume.

Security is a specialization. Why would we need hyperspecialists for what all together is just a small part of the portfolio?

It was very obvious that tator tot still does not know what she is doing. So much for the fast start. There is no selling going on and it will take a couple of months for the fog to clear if not longer. Then transition and into to accounts. That puts us into Q2. This was not well thought out.
