I assume you are talking IC Directors and Sr. Managers right? Sr. Managers IC is just the new titles they give level 58 senior developers and leads. The Director IC manages no one, and usually serves as an architect, strategies, or combination tech lead.
Too many directors and too many managers...they r useless...they have Zero technical knowledge and Zero management skills.

Both My manager and Director are pretty much useless. They just send Thank you emails. They can be replaced by a bunch of switch statements.
Green, and pretty much everyone not blue, fails to understand that Schwab was a consensus organization for a long time. It started as a healthy thing. Then it became buy-in followed by more buy-in. Analysis paralysis.
More recently, this split into two groups. The first focused on control and bullying with the illusion of buy-in. Decisions were made in hallway conversations and crisis management. We paid millions in consultants and more with internal strategy development that was ignored or worse. The other acted like we were getting buy in for decisions already made. It’s all an act. So much money and time wasted.
Green folks see it. Yeah, we were more agile and less meeting. Less governance. But blue can’t show less risk or greater outcomes. It’s allowed broad incompetence to prevail.
The crud is so bad that Ricky and the EC think they’re running a cost savings game. Much in the same way spending two mil on insurance for a million dollars with of artwork is an investment.

Same in all groups. I thought the point of the layoff was to level it out more. It’s ridiculous and in my experience they do absolute nothing but sit on phone calls.
Title is Like Inflation , more you have in your team more it will have less value.
They value would less then SWE , but ego massaged and it fills good .
Probably you will see many of them would be Visa worker.
Even the pay would be less, ego flattered, they will work like mule.
Only return they would be getting is boasting in other Visa holders and there family member , who are still working with service provider and they switched to client.
Which means they expect that business to expand in coming years
Buy fancy cars mostly.
