You have so many VPs, directors, and managers. Why didn't you target them? They make much more money than the clerks or supervisors.

I was laid off. I don't think is fair that we are paying the prices of this one doctor who Disgraced 35-year-old gastroenterologist Dr. Zhi Alan Cheng pleaded guilty to multiple counts of race and s-xuality. I feel is unfair working for 35 years for New York Presbyterian Hospital and all I get is a 6-month severance paid. Which is not fair, and you make yourself number 1. This is bullsh-t. What kind of hospital are you if you allow this to happen for almost 2 years? How could you be the best hospital if this was happening under your nose? I think right now NYU is probably the best place to work.

QUEENS (WABC) -- Disgraced 35-year-old gastroenterologist Dr. Zhi Alan Cheng pleaded guilty to multiple counts of ra-e and s-xual abuse for as--ulting acquaintances and female hospital patients, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced Monday.

Cheng, of Astoria, was charged in a 50-count indictment for the crimes in August 2023. He was then indicted on additional charges in March 2024 after another hospital victim came forward.

Cheng admitted he filmed the abuse of unconscious victims in both his apartment and at NewYork-Presbyterian Queens hospital between 2020 and 2022, pleading guilty to seven counts related to ra-e and s-xual abuse. He additionally entered an Alford plea to one count of s-xual abuse.

So great idea now, remove coverage of the trades for the holidays. BRILLIANT move manager of the year!!! I feel bad for the staff that will be working the holidays. We basically will be on our own…. Not a positive sign for layoffs being over.
I did hear more talk about a union vote or something like that coming up

@4qr What department are you from?? Why does everyone give snippets of details? Patient Experience had a town hall today and were told it isn't over in the first couple minutes.

Regardless the beast hasn't cut off all of it's limbs. It needs to start from the very top. New eyes, new perspectives, new ideas and leadership that ACTUALLY looks like the communities we serve. Instead of placing new facilities or medical group practices in more affluent neighborhoods. What about the Bronx or Mid/South Queens? Enterprise Leadership doesn't look like those who actually run the organization; the "little people". Time for a change, for a new direction.

To me the video was not clear if the layoffs are over. It seemed like they were trying to say that they are but a more direct and straight answer would have been nice.

Does anyone know if layoffs have continued past Memorial Day? I know people have mentioned that they heard layoffs would continue until July 4th - I haven’t heard of anyone new being laid off so just wondering if anyone has had any official communication or seen anything this week.

@3ws According to Dr Donely, "we've become more efficient. And we're working closely with every team member who's been impacted by a position that's been eliminated. Many team members, we've been able to place them in jobs here. And for those who weren't able to be placed at New York Presbyterian, we are working with EVERY team member to find positions."

This was strategized from at least 2023 and the hospital began terminating employees with decades of service and exceeds standards evaluations.
All done prior to the announcement of layoffs to avoid severance.
Do not trust your VP's, director, managers and do not trust ANYONE in NON-Human Resources - they have been dishonest and corrupt for so long- it is natural for them.
This settlement will take much more than laying off 1000 employees - with another major settlement coming in the next few months.

Your comment comes off more scared than smart. The delay had nothing to do with incompetence—it was a calculated pause while everything was legally vetted, step by step, to ensure it would stand when the time came. People were protecting their careers, and who could blame them? But now the green light’s on, and things are moving—fast. Frankly, you sound like someone defending the very system responsible for the surveillance—or worse, someone actively involved in it. That’s what’s truly ridiculous. If you’ve got the guts, drop your email. I’ll send you a few sound bites that might just scare the sh*t out of you. But let’s be real—you probably won’t. My guess? You’re part of the machine trying to keep this all buried.
Tick-tock. The truth doesn’t rush—but it never stops. And when it finally breaks through, we’ll be right there—front row—watching it unravel and cheering as every mask falls. Slow and steady wins the race. And we’re not slowing down. Because once the exposure hits... that’s when the real fun begins.

@28k if management takes action against you for talking with a union, the money they will have to pay out to you once you lawyer up will be absolutely insane. You’ll have earned every penny of it.

I've been through layoffs before at both profit and non-profit places. The lack of transparency at NYP is troubling and just amplifies what others have said about the culture of respect being a sham. But, to preserve your sanity, take some practical steps now while you are still employed: make sure you have your work friends phone numbers and email addresses on your personal devices. Get your personal files off of work computers. Save copies of reports you have written in case a future employer asks for examples of your work. Be supportive of people who are struggling with the changes. Take care of your health while you still have access to insurance. Check your retirement balances. NYP has been around for 250 years. It isn't going anywhere. Maybe it just got too big, too fast and needs to hit the pause button for a bit.

Whoever is posting this nonsense just stop. You sound ridiculous with the redundant repetitive adjectives and lack of specific evidence. If you did have all this evidence then 1) Why announce it and 2) Why were you holding onto evidence of civil rights violations all this time?

As a BIG heads up- Shaun Smith, SVP and Chief People Officer (who heads the layoff effort) is giving a LIVE speech on how hospitals like NYP RETAIN staff on Monday June 9th, 2pm EST. Let’s all register and flood this event and let all of the attendees know just how great NYP is at respecting and retaining the hard working staff that line the executives pockets.

Register here to get the attendee link:

Keep in mind- use an alias, not your real name when registering. You can also get a temporary email account to use by visiting a site like temp-mail.org. Don’t attend the session on an NYP issued computer or mobile device.

Please do not remove post below. This directly applies and everyone should be aware of what is going on and where it stems from.

Ongoing Systemic Discrimination and Toxic Leadership at NYPH/NYPEMS
This message is being sent to bring global attention to the deeply troubling and ongoing patterns of systemic discrimination and toxic leadership within NYPH and NYPEMS.
Leadership at NYPH has long been aware of the toxic culture deeply embedded within NYPEMS. Despite this knowledge, they have continually endorsed both past and present leadership—even while fully aware that certain individuals were spreading hate, lies, racism, and homophobia. These behaviors have been allowed to persist unchecked and continue to flourish.
It has become increasingly apparent that NYPH is attempting to obscure its long-standing record of abuse and discrimination by strategically placing minorities and women in management roles. These moves appear to serve more as performative gestures designed to project an image of diversity, rather than genuine efforts to address systemic issues and ensure equity and accountability.
Leadership has consistently failed to act, discipline, or remove those responsible for perpetuating this culture. Qualified employees have been repeatedly denied advancement based on race, s-xual orientation, and other protected characteristics. Meanwhile, abusive, intimidating, and retaliatory conduct is tolerated—if not enabled—when exhibited by those in leadership’s favor.
Terminations based on false or exaggerated claims have become a method of control, silencing those who speak up. Conversely, similar or worse conduct by protected individuals in leadership is routinely overlooked or rewarded. This hypocrisy reflects a broader, deeply rooted culture of discrimination, fear, and institutional neglect.
Despite public-facing campaigns that emphasize inclusion, respect, and integrity, the internal reality at NYPH/NYPEMS stands in stark contrast. The organization continues to hide behind a carefully curated image, but the truth is surfacing—and the cracks in that façade are widening.
We possess extensive documentation, including hundreds of audio recordings, that reveal the depth and scale of misconduct. We will be launching a public website shortly to share these recordings and related evidence, with new material added weekly.
This culture of impunity is not only harmful to employees—it has also endangered patients. In at least one high-profile case, allegations of s-xual as--ult—specifically ra-e—by a physician were reportedly ignored by senior leadership. These failures contributed to what has now resulted in a lawsuit exceeding one billion dollars. If leadership was indeed aware, as documentation suggests, then those responsible should not only be ashamed—they must be held criminally accountable for enabling harm through deliberate inaction.
This same tolerance for misconduct has allowed individuals within EMS to continue engaging in abusive behaviors, while removing managers who were actively working to reform and repair the toxic culture. Individuals such as M. Koppel, Keith Harrera, and others remain in senior leadership roles, despite their direct involvement in sustaining and protecting this harmful environment.
What we have shared here represents only a fraction of what we have uncovered. We remain committed to pursuing full accountability, transparency, and lasting, systemic change.

@33f It’s become alarmingly clear that a pattern is emerging seasoned employees with over 25 years of experience and spotless records were abruptly laid off. These were individuals with higher salaries because of time on the job. Also we believe because of their extensive institutional knowledge of cover ups. This is no coincidence, I promise I have first hand knowledge It was a calculated move to silence those who know too much and thinking, hopefully it Wait until it all starts to come out it will be like a Diddy case in one after the other will come out and expose the systemic cover ups that really are criminal from what the lawyers and investigators are saying. . Others will start come forward and the truth will finally surface. And when it does, the extent of the wrongdoing will be undeniable and again we believe criminal. In the latest lawsuit, it was found that underage children were se-----y abused by the doctor, and that senior leadership had knowledge of it. If true, this is why the Dr in the new case got life! The fact that leadership may have allowed this to continue is almost unbelievable but at the same time isn’t knowing how NYP and the enterprise works. What’s currently known is just the beginning. I guarantee this is only the tip of the iceberg. The avalanche will eventually come down. We all need to get the news involved in all aspects of what is going on because they are great at damage control.
