Do you know if the company is able to listen to our conversations at home or watch us through our camera while we are at home working? Wonder if we are being watched or listened to whenever our computer is signed on?

Oliver? Oliver? You can’t have your meat if you don’t eat your pudding! You can’t make any more documentaries if you can’t leave the funny farm!
Are they spying? Ask how they get their numbers?
Yes, they are spying. Think modern day ge----o.
Nobody has time to sit and review every employee’s every move. As a sysadmin in a former life, generally managers only start looking at your computer activity DEEPLY if given a reason to do so
AWS Workspace security “levels” Amd devices have and do. It sick really. WorkDay is a joke and management and systems. Just id--ts playing a game.
Contact authorities. I don't care. If you don't believe there is no violence in this world, you are living under a rock.
Your family lives in fear of violence because of your outlook on life. Very disturbing. Someone needs to contact authorities.
Hey S-B dont bring in family on comments. Sure fire way to promote violence. Lol!
You must live a horrible existence with that attitude. Please apologize to you family on all,of our behalf.
I just went to the funeral of an associate who passed 15 years before his time. The sooner you realize SF does not care about you and will run you to the ground and not care, the better. Dont let them do that to you. They prey off the youngsters to pay them less so as the end draws near they can pull the carpet out from under. Place your bets knowing their game.
The question should be.....Do you trust technology? Me....oh he-l no! Do you trust them? Me.....oh he-l no! If you dont trust either....it's a double oh he-l no!
@1iiu+1lJ4u8Un how they can can turn on the camera and mic if you are logged out and not working but connected to the VPN. It just does not make sense.
The camera is off and the employee is LOGGED OUT. Administrator server side shows the state as idle not active. What can they possibly see if the camera is not on? Ditto for the mic if you are not connected to take calls.
You have to keep the PC/laptop in a separate, soundproof room with the shades drawn?
Y'all are touched. Next thing you're gonna say is the virtual backgrounds we use with the webcams don't work.
@2tpo…..if it’s even true that somebody showed you a laptop and software….so what? I’m sure they wouldn’t be leaving any illegal surveillance software visible. And you certainly didn’t analyze the code in said software to see exactly what it does.
An HCL employee showed me his HCL issued laptop and the software used to track his activities.
@2qtm-your low level of intelligence and lack of an education is appalling. The case was filed in the most litigious and plaintiff friendly county in the U.S. it was settled for less than a penny on the dollar. Over 96% of all tort cases are settled out of court. You should have stayed in school you would not embarrass yourself so much. But your stupidity does have a comic element.
If they'll spend250 million to get out of a lawsuit, imagine what they will do to reduce costs and labor is the #1 cost. Remember! They can talk all they want but the bottom line is they DO NOT care about their labor as evidenced by current and past policies.
If there was no liability why make the payoff? Even a peon would know that!
The 250 million to settle a 20 year 8 billion plaintiff boondoggle was brilliant, just brilliant. It why you were a 40 year peon.
@2xvg If they'll spend 250 Million on RICO, no telling what they are capable of willing to do. Don't trust until verified.
There's no need to "assume they can"
Using the webcam and/or microphone to monitor an employee violates about every privacy law on the books. In IL alone they'd be setting themselves up for billions of dollars of class action fines if anyone ever found out.
@2yvs Little do you know. I've spent more time behind a laptop just during the time you were in diapers!
@2qmk-good thing you were too old Grandpa to have a laptop when you were employed.
@2bsu. Well said. Spot on. Remember they only go after the ones who dont speak their kool aid and buy into a false narrative. They are very cruel politicians.
@1xsp+1lJ4u8Un
are you purposely playing ignorant? laptops have built in camera and microphones hardwired to the laptop itself and can be accessed so long as connected to VPN, if they do or do not while off hours its moot point, the fact that they shouldn't it doesn't meant they are not capable of it and it is better to err on the side of caution and assume they can.
also for the ones saying they would need teams of people watching you during work hours so therefore they cant .... nope , all it takes its a bored middle manager or higher and they can dedicate portions of their so very busy day looking at what you do, the software will then point out what you were doing and how long, for example looking at a document for x minutes or if you are reading notes it would show as just looking at browser, then they click on that report and it shows a clip showing that, all they need is statistics and suddenly you are taking too long to do your job and you get micromanaged , i am not saying its all they do but if they wanted to get dirt on you this is how it would start.
which is why its better to assume they can and be cautious than to play the fool and then suddenly you are getting talked to and they know your personal life, it has been known to happen, SF has no right to your personal life.
What are you saying here? If your camera is not connected but the computer is on connected to the VPN to get software updates with the monitors turned off, how can they watch you or listen to you when you are logged off? Through a secret spy camera? lol Does this mean they can listen in to inappropriate things just because the headset is there while you're at home? lol
One last question......are you sure you don't need to up your meds?
I’m a top performer in my demand pool, let them monitor all they want. With all the information they record, I should be getting giant raises. But every year it’s here is your 3, the people getting 4s and 5s are people I’m constantly helping, guess why that is friends?
No i get all that, but like putting resources towards monitoring employees off the clock seems like a huge risk for the company and no benefit to the company.
I know this diverges from the hate train seen here, so it will be downvote city for this and my other comment....
but the company doesnt have a team of spys on the payroll, likely would never be able to make use of any recorded off clock conversations, would open itself to massive litigation for it, and wouldnt benefit the company in any way.....turnover is high enough as is and they seem to realize they need workers still (finally)
No it really does seem like a childs take on the possibility that the company could be tracking you. I mean its a child take that "its their mission to have absolute power and control so they can force their narrative on you. You are a minion to them" like they are on a power trip for sure but i don't see comic book villian levels of "hahah we are recording them and now they are our minions...stay tuned next week for their evil plans..." ect
I mean we all are adults with functional IQs here in theory. This all probably played out way more logical in your head, but doesnt make sense for a real company.
Dont put anything off the table on the possibilities of what they can and cant do. Just know its their mission to have absolute power and control so they can force their narrative on you. You are a minion to them.
I mean we dont have proper staffing to handle our core business functions, let alone pay people to listen to associates home conversations (why would you leave the laptop open with the camera lens uncovered while off work?)
Even if they did, what possibly could they be listening for " Hey sally, we heard over dinner you laughed at your manager last night, care to explain"....just isnt feasable.
It sounds like something a child would come up with...
If you want to work from home then they should make cameras on mandatory and generate a daily key log for each employee so managers can review. No more playing on your phone or watching tv
There are laptop activity apps that can send keystrokes, screenshots, etc.... to management. The question is are they being used or not? Concerning the camera, I have tape over mine when not in use.
of course they can't monitor / spy within your private home...major lawsuit
Yes they are ! And worse than that, mrmikey
oh they can and they will
do not leave work pc in an area that is not for work
while at work they can randomly at any time look at mic and camera and while off work if connected to VPN they can do the same so if you want your private life off work to be private leave the pc on another room.
This was a thing before teams, teams does make it easier to spy **cough i mean monitor you , you might notice a computer slow down specially if the call is being recorded(as well as your screen) by Verint and then someone happens to also watch/hear it live thru teams, the poor computer gets lout as a jet engine trying to keep up and things slow down.
and dont assume muting your mic does anything , its a software mute , and the pc has built in mics(more than 1) so its best to work under that assumption and play it safe.
They got you monitored soo good that it gives the FBI and CIA envy .
No.
They are not allowed to spy on you in your own home.
However, yes, they are allowed to monitor your activity on the computer. If you're on a teams/jabber/whatever call, or you're IM'ing, they can listen and they can read.
They don't, by and large, but they can.
The answer is yes. Why would that be a problem if you are working?
Yes, they do this using Microsoft Teams and Tanium Client
