Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowes: A Petri Dish of id--ts

Lowes is doing absolutely nothing to curtail the spread of this virus. One email from Marvin is not going to solve anything. Where are the cleaning supplies? Where are OUR gloves, masks and Lysol? Why are we not wiping things down every day? Why is there no information about how to protect yourself posted in the break room? What is the plan???

Not one person in my store is taking this seriously at all. Everyone, including store manager, is convinced that this is all overblown and it doesn’t affect them in any way.

Associates are coughing on each other and keyboards as a joke. Managers just laugh. The break room is a disaster. The cleaning service for the bathrooms, when they do show up, are wiping down everything with dirty rags as they FaceTime their friends. Sick cashiers are allowed to continue ringing people through the lines. Associates are regularly giving customers false information that they heard on Facebook.

I blame ALL of leadership for this. They are short changing us on everything we need to manage this situation. They created this ridiculous id–tic culture, and they allowed it to thrive. They should be hammering store leader ship with messaging about proper hygiene, making it part of daily huddles, give talking points on how to respond to customers and shareholders who bring up Coronavirus related subjects, especially about the disruption of the supply chain. They are all but ignoring it, and if I get sick, I 100% blame this company. They are putting me at risk not just because we have to deal with the public every day, but because they have a total lack of concern for our well-being doing it, by not squashing the stupidity and belief of infallibility. All because of the id–t culture they created. Thanks Marvin. Enjoy your virus free office at our and our customers expense. Have a cough on me.

Any employee over 60 with or without underlying health issues, need to be sent home and paid for 90 days. Should have had a plan even if the government didn’t. If you don’t believe that, watch some videos from Italy or Spain as to how this could affect you long term..IF you survive it.

Tell all this to anyone living in Italy. Or Wuhan. Or New Rochelle. Or Seattle.

Are all of these people stupid lacking common sense? Or are you too dense to actually be informed about what's going on, to the possible detriment and even life of yourself and those you care about?

This is serious. If you think it's nothing to worry about, go look up a video on youtube about exponential growth. This is bordering on 'snowsballs exist therefore climate change don't real' level of thinking. Remember that your failure to take the right precautions impact everyone around you.

You just can't close everything down for two weeks or more. If your elderly or have health issues stay home. If you are sick or don't feel well stay home. People need pay checks, people need food, people need to repair things, life goes on. If every one used common sense things should be ok. I think we need to be cateful but not to the extent of what some folks are suggesting. And those folks hording all the clorox pruducts to make a buck off of the internet reselling it shame on you! I dont want my stote to close , i need the paycheck. Am i carefull of cleaning habits and dont shake hands you bet. If someone is afraid to come to work fine stay home. But let me do my job, because today (saturday) it was really busy and customers were busy getting ready for spring and most did not seem too concerned about the pandemic. If i dont feel well i will call out out of concern for others.

Had an elderly "high risk" couple express concerns about about a Lowe's delivery for fear the crew could possibly bring the virus into their home. The delivery was postponed until they feel comfortable that the worst of this has past. And while the risk of passing on the virus by someone that is not yet showing active symptoms is low it is not outside the realm of possibility.

More and more responsible companies are putting BOTH their EMPLOYEES and their PATRONS safety ahead of profits at this time. I live in central Florida and both Walt Disney and Universal Studios are closing down ALL of their theme parks. NBA games canceled, concerts being canceled and more events being canceled each day. Is this costing them massive amounts of money? Absolutely, but that's what true leadership is about. Then flash to Lowe's and we don't even have any sanitizing wipes in stock for the shopping carts. If you see any wipes in our store it's because either we had some stashed before this got started or the employees brought them in from home. Men's bathroom was even out of soap most of last week. Got to keep those Lowe's spend management numbers down. Another Lowe's fail. Beyond pathetic!

Where are you getting the wipes from exactly? We've been out for like a week.

Just what "steps" has the "I'm part of the solution" guy taken? Karma would dictate one of those steps begins right before a steep cliff.

You don't need to be told to wipe your work area down. It should be common sense, even before all this virus stuff started. Who do you expect to do it? Every close we wipe down the desk, 4 computers and phones in my department with lysol. Cleaning at close used to be part of basic expectations.

Costco wiping down 20 cart handles with 1 wipe. That’s great hygiene. The employee stated that they are running out. Seriously?

It is just business-as-usual and pretend there is not an emergency and an urgent situation. No shopping-cart wipes either (supermarket has them) or hand-sanitizer stations or even store-use antibacterial wipes or sanitary spray to spray keyboards, countertops (no desks any more) or other surfaces. The tabletops in the breakroom are not cleaned and sanitized on a regular basis and we should all just not think about this or not worry. We can pretend that Marv cares about us because he said he does (and also just helped himself to a big stock purchase because of the stock that dropped in price due to the coronavirus concerns. I feel like this company just doesn't care about its employees unless they are in Marvin's inner circle and we are disrespected each and every day and this is just another example.

No mention has been made of the potential danger and we have not had cart wipes or store-use disinfectant for 4-5 months. I guess, ignore it and it will all go away. But Marvin gets points for making an effort and acting concerned. Will he even address it in his bs podcasts?

Marvin sent his email and set his policy so he gets good PR... That's it. Because you either need to have traveled to China or elsewhere; live with someone who tested positive, or test positive yourself. Well with the last two, you're boned because there aren't enough test to go around. Which means his policy can go f— itself for all the good it's going to do you when you're positive but can't get a test.

I got emails from my bank saying they will be sanitizing the ATM every half hour and all counter tops and pens the customers use. I received an email from my barber saying they will be wiping down and disinfecting the doors, chairs counters and keypads for each customer.
Home Depot has wipes, the supermarket has wipes, Walmart has wipes and I saw employees wearing gloves and wiping down self checkout.
Costco they wiped down the carts as people entered.

Lowe’s.... um nothing.
