Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

You’ve got it all wrong…

What us hBB&T’ers are so salty about is the fact that we had it soooo good. And it was stripped away by SunTruist. Great culture, fair pay, good benefits, sense of pride in working for a stable institution so committed to its roots and communities. We grieve. And we’re mad as he-l.

I'm hBBT. Let's be real everyone. We have too many people doing practically nothing. EL has their heads up their a$$. Get ride of the people that are not performing. Stop overpaying children straight out college. From where I sit, EL is top heavy. Let's start leaning that group out. All they do is shuffle people around. You need to save money, Maybe reduce bonuses to all those that recieve them. They don't do any to the real work. Don't get me started on offshore help desk.

Completely agree. I hear from SunTrust teammates that “BB&T teammates just don’t like change”. That’s not true at all. It’s not change we don’t like, it’s the type of change. Going from an environment where we truly felt valued and took pride in a company because of how it treated us and the work we did to now a company that could not give two sh** about us, systems that just don’t work, and “leadership” that does anything but take accountability. But hey, at least with layoffs in January they can say they continued to lower costs in 2 consecutive years, right?

I actually worked for BB&T until a few months before the merger was announced when I voluntarily left for a better opportunity. At least in my region, I could see things beginning to take a different approach to client relations and treatment compared to when I started. I was just some lowly RB but truly enjoyed helping my clients. I started to gradually see new attitudes take over from some leadership in my cluster and region.

That being said I grieve what was a great bank who took care of the customers and employees. It was always about money of course but we at least did a decent job of taking care of each other. I never regretted leaving and certainly don't now.

100% right and I only came not long before the conversion. This is a cr-p show now.

Amen to that. BB&T wasn't perfect, but the culture was workable and the people were mostly decent. SunTrust culture, and sadly SunTruist now, is a toxic mix of back stabbing and fear. Everyone fighting turf wars or trying to blend into the background by doing as little actual work as possible. 0% chance of Truist succeeding with SunTrust leading the way.

That is why EL gets paid the big bucks, so the worker bees will have someone to be mad at when the hidden hand makes a move. The faces you all are mad ate were just puppets, nothing more. They cater to investors. It’s all about MONEY, always was and will be when it comes to banks. If you bought into the whole “we care for our clients” BS, then I really feel for you. Wake up!

Humans are dairy cows to a bank.

All banks are the same. Out to make a dollar, the rest is all an act to qualify.

Everyone is just using each other for money, money, money. That’s why you all got your a—-es up every morning to go and help the banking cartel rob another soul - make MONEY.

So, stfu and enjoy the ride. You all will find another institution to sell your time to for money so you can fund your life styles.

… say goodnight to the bad guy.

It is easy to say do not dwell on the past. One certainty is the future is not as bright as it once was. Overall, the financial services industry is going through a tremendous period of transition. For sure, BR and BC do not know how the successfully guide Truist through these changes. For those who were hST do not gloat. SunTrust needed financial help to get through the 2008 financial crisis. Did BB&T?….nope. Did SunTrust have the financial capital to fund this merger?….Nope. Was KK d-mb enough to be dupe into this merger?…Yep. KK was watching out for KK.

If you are in your 30s and 40s, my heart goes out to you. If you can make a career change then do it before you are too old to even have a reasonable change of success and happiness. For those of you who do leave Truist, I suggest you close out all of your banking business with them and do not look back.

BR is telegraphing his intentions to financially drive Truist into the dirt. Like KK, BR is only watching out for BR. Do you see him on any business shows?……Nope. BR has little to no street credibility.

Good luck to all.

As a former BB&T customer since 2003, I miss that bank too. Not a Truist fan.

Kelly King was a buffoon. The success of BBT was due to the leadership down through the ranks and the other executives leading most areas of the bank. Kelly was allowed to be Kelly and spin his yarns and talk all his nonsense and stay out of the way. Why he allowed Rogers and his gang of merry wannabe investment bankers to take control of the merger when BBT was the acquiring bank will forever remain a question.

It wasn't the worker bees. It was SunTriust EL. I took the VSRP. We had several SunTrust folks join our team in tech. They were good to work with, and didn't like what was going on with SunTruist EL anymore that us hBBT folks. They despised Scott Case.

You nailed. Having worked over a decade at BB&T, to watch this slow motion train wreck has been unbearable. Time to retire. When people ask me where I worked, I will hold my head high and proudly say “BB&T’.

Ironic how all of the hSTI people are for the most part like pigs in mud at SunTruist. Says a lot of the culture they built and are building.

Yep. And that windbag Kelly King tossed it away because he was mad he didn’t have any big deals under his belt like his predecessor. The irony is by pursuing a grand gesture to improve his legacy he’s thrown his legacy in the dirt.
