Layoffs in the tower today?

That was many of us, so hard to believe the company culture has nothing left now. Give it hell. #GeevUm
No doubt on Thursday some were caught unprepared. In their wake some will show up today still living the legacy culture of not giving up the good fight. I can relate, that was me in February. I was hopeful, fiercely loyal and grateful for every opportunity provided me along the way. -FFF
Great post. I'd like to ask about why you thought you'd be spared despite all evidence to the contrary? With 17 years in service of Follet, you saw them go after people with 20+ years with the company. In retrospect, wasn't that a clue that you were nearing the end?
I am not judging. After watching the blood bath 3 years ago, I assumed it was common knowledge they were out to trim payroll and those with experience were the most expensive.
Moving forward, it is no accident that people with significant experience are being cut. If you have 15, 20, 25+ years in service of this company you owe it to yourself, your family and your retirement to bring your skills up to speed, update your resume, get active on LinkedIn. Do it NOW! Even if you don't want to leave, it's likely that the decision isn't yours to make.
Great post former Follett friend.
Thinking fondly of friends who lost jobs today and those remaining who will now be called on to step up during such a horrible time. I was let go in February and have suggestions for those affected. 1) Take advantage of the outplacement services. I was not prepared. They helped with a resume, linked in profile and networking. The weekly coaching calls were also helpful. 2) Google the WIOA program. I received a $10K grant for training/certification that helped modernize my skills after a 20 year run at the company. 3) Last and most important, nobody who matters has celebrated your loss today. Try to focus on the future and not dwell on what you cannot change. You are not your job. Wishing you all the best, your former Follett friend.
