Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Complete permanent shutdown

Welp that's all folks. Just heard word from a higher up friend that by start of next week a news conference is going to be coming, and Eddie will be announcing complete shutdown of Sears, Kmart A&E Factory service and everything else due to the extreme financial stress an losses endured from the covid-19 shutdown. They are basing this decision on the unknown certain future of shoppers coming into the stores even after the reopening of economy. They say the majority of people will be saving money for late bills and not shopping at Sears an Kmart stores. Can't say we all didn't see it coming. Good luck to everyone who is still employed currently. Hopefully we'll get another stimulus check to help out.

I wondered why it's taken even this long. C19 is the perfect exit for Eddie to have a legit reason for finally shutting this down for good and taking the land. good luck to all and be safe!

You mean to tell me Sears and Kmart still exist?

First Learn English at maybe a third grade level, then start posting here. It should read "no one is inciting", not "no one
is incites". Should be "posting store closings" not "posted stores closing". "Too bad", not "to bad". Not sure what Pearl Harbor or anything else has to do
with Sears. Also I have seen no evidence that the List Man has anything to do with any of what you mentioned. I haven't even seen
any evidence that he is Asian (not that there would be anything wrong with it if he were). We are all Americans,
and we all bleed the same. I have an Asian-American wife who is awesome. Racism or prejudice of any kind is not allowed on this forum and the moderators will promptly remove it. Lastly, I am glad he is posting
the lists of stores, as the website has old information and it keeps us all informed.
We are all here to gloat about the store closings. That's literally what this site is about, to celebrate them. Happy closings!

Closure of the sears stores has also made online fulfillment impossible for large swaths of items.

I heard these rumors 30 years ago. 20 years ago. and so on. I've heard these rumors since I've been associated with the company.
At this point, Ed just got a big chunk for selling off logistics. then sent almost everyone home due to Covid19. He doesnt need to close the company just yet with so many loose ends lying around. He can get those things tidied up with a few folks spread around and close it later.
He would be crazy not to cut everyone except absolute essentials right now or soon though. The more people he has drawing a check, the more money he doesnt end up with.
At the end of the day, he walks away with more than he would if he were to keep it going. So shutting it down makes the most sense.

So yes, I do believe it will be shutting down. But it probably won't be next week. The people that know these things don't tend to share them with folks that frequent boards like this one.

He would never buy JC Penney for that reason. Eddie said we have all of the members we could possibly want.

Of course every prediction of closings is eventually correct because that's been the trended direction for years. When there were thousands of stores if I came and said to watch for a list of 30 stores around the end of any financial reporting period I almost assuredly would have been right. I'm not sure about this last group since these are being sold off these are probably preferable leases he can get money for them. I'm not sure there will be a big "list" probably a few here and there periodically as leases are sold and bought out. I think it depends on how much money it makes him. I firmly expect him to try and get a bailout amount too or at least very good term rate loans so he can continue to maximize the property values while operating a handful of stores. There are reasons to keep the stores operating, it can generate tax losses that can be used later when pieces are sold and profited on. It keeps trademarks actively used. It keeps the Kenmore brand out there while he tries to sell it.

I could be wrong though and he could buy JC Penney for a new rollout of SYW and credit cards to the new members.

Members aren't going to walk away from Sears quality and value. Especially when Sears.com and KMart.com stand ready to provide them with quality product, great service and competitive prices.

Sears lasted through the great depression. It will thrive after this situation is over too.

Every prediction of massive store shutdowns ever has proven to be correct. If the dates are missed, it's only because Eddie and Leena are so incompetent they're missing the target dates.

@wpy+14uaYO4y Of course, you're absolutely right! That's exactly what it is. More unprovable nonsense, to get us closing enthusiasts' hopes up, for nothing.

@ick+14uaYO4y OK, put the pipe down and try that post in English, please.

If this doesn't happen NEXT WEEK (and it won't), I will personally rub it in, Say "I TOLD YOU SO!", & give you a napkin to wipe that egg off your face. You have 1 Week, big boy. Or you will be hearing from me, and I'll give you the thickest slice of "LINKS OR IT DIDN'T HAPPEN", that you have ever seen in your life. Try me. Tired of being teased. This isn't Scores.

Yawn, Brian. Another garbage posts. If you're not going to include a freaking link, don't take up our TIME & your Time with this nonsense. This isn't going to happen NEXT WEEK, this is a nonsensical post that you have not posted a shred of evidence about. Links or it didn't happen. Stop posting sensationalized clickbait. Worthless post.

Most things with this company don’t make sense anymore. If you had worked there you would understand. It’s like going to work waiting for the mall to drop any minute. I’ve never felt better now that I am away from that mess.

Sounds like another "Thursday" or "April 7th" post. I literally just got a SYW email telling me to buy exercise equipment while I stay inside while reading the replies to this post. Why would they even bother doing a targeted email if they're closing next week? Let alone one that requires delivery. I'm told Kmart just got "essentials" in yesterday.
