Most of the justifications for RTO are small minded without consideration for measurables. For example, "away" in Teams is not a measurable. Concerns about what people may be doing in addition to work are unwarranted, again, measurable performance metrics matter, multi tasking is fine if they are being met. This whole thing is a bit of, well, BS.

Mary say's we are mature adults and can work appropriately.
Actions speak louder than words. Management says they hate remote work and people can't do a good job remotely, so everyone needs to come into the office and work face to face. But then they build teams where half the team is remote. Which says they don't really believe what they say.
@2tjh+1jaf1g3d All right pack in people. We're gonna have to fit some of you in the boiler room, and some in the parking garage. Folks in the boiler room are not allowed food or drink due to the rat issue. Folks in the garage put a lawn chair on top your Suburban and submit a request for an approved UAW installed space heater.
So if remote work is a failure, all our projects will be staffed by people physically present in one office. My project won't have people from Austin, Canada, and Bangalore. Just people whose desk i can visit in person. No more video meetings. On the other and, if we still have mixed location teams, you're saying remote work isn't a failure after all
Who are they going to blame when WFH isn’t there to point fingers at anymore?
Because the office Coffee Club is a ripoff!
Q: Why do people not want to go back to the office at GM?
A: *Early retirement with a big paycheck. Pajamas. Netflix. Beer.
*Check out how many in your group have a yellow "away" set 90% of the time. MANAGERS ARE WELL AWARE OF THIS. You can't reach anyone and emails bounce back hours later.
*The productivity curve looks like an upside bowl. Give people an inch, they take a mile. They are comfortable and don't want to be under the watchful eye. No more Netflix. No more pajamas. No more beer.
*When people are grocery shopping, home schooling, hobbies and doing side hustles on company time, it's stealing. It's dishonest and we all know it's going on. Lets be real for a minute. We are all adults here.
*Party is over in January 2023 as the recession takes America by hold. Mass layoffs and hyperinflation will cure anyone from their complacency. There's a simple choice: RTO or lose your home and your lifestyle.
*The "new normal " was never real. You were duped. The real goal was implosion of the global economy and corporations fell for it. Especially the woke ones. Get it? The supply chain is damaged. Currencies are collapsing. Pensions and 401ks dropped almost 30% so far and will likely lose another 20% by the end of the year. Real inflation is almost 20%. You will own nothing and like it. You will eat the bugs. Is it starting to feel real for you now?
*If you need to cry or scream, do it in a pillow so you don't scare the kids.
Paycut. Waste of time driving in to work. Better work/life balance. They willfully opened the door in mass coordination the world over, and people see through the game. Why do you think they wanted every single person to go mobile only a few years before the plandemic? Everyone was required to secure a laptop.
All this is going to do is pi-s people off. Sure you might force or threaten them to come into the office, but that’s not going to win any loyalty or motivation. Might even bring in some undermining.
Employees work just hard enough not to get fired. Company pays just enough for employee not to quit. That second part isn’t exactly true these days now is it?
