Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Tension higher than ever

The atmosphere is worse than ever. For more than a decade of working here, I don’t remember the tension ever being higher. Maybe I'm exaggerating? I don't know, but it doesn't bode well for me. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

To respond to @2ffk+1d95Wjm4; First with a joke: They share the same brain so why discriminate the level of management ;)

But, seriously the environment dictates the cadence regardless of policy. If the narrative of all executives is to "keep your head down, don't rock the boat and push liberal policy" then that is what you do. To do anything else makes you wrong, and you'll be removed. Welcome to the corporate translation of cancel culture. Unfortunately, that promotes a culture of snowflakes that will allow issues to flow down to the engineering and manufacturing environment. At which point the issues have gotten larger and now the Engineers and Technicians have to solve what should've been handled at an executive level.
Add to that, there are still people close to retirement that just don't care anymore, and they're at a senior level where no one can get rid of them. I imagine they've gotten fed up with recent events and have relegated to "pushing the rope"
This erosion of leadership because of fear, despondence, and apathy is what is causing the current poopy environment.
You want that to improve? Then remove the real fear of being "cancelled" so that issues can be raised and discussed.
Now with regards to the comment: "According to Kennedy they all retired to seek opportunities elsewhere". Well, that is obvious nonsense. I knew from the beginning when I still worked for Raytheon that the "Merger" was actually a "Friendly Takeover". For those of you that were keeping track, you would've noticed the slow transition of the board positions being taken over by UTC. Yes, it is a good marriage from a technology standpoint, and yes in 5 to 10 years it will be making good products from that marriage. But, you've about 10 years of complete suck to deal with before you get to that bright shiny spot at the end of the "tunnel of suck".

The tension can be applicable to both remote and non-remote workers. I am a remote worker. I have daily tag ups, weekly status reports, and coworkers/managers that think I assume I am available at 3AM. I could say "no", but there could be consequences to that.

Remote workers have not gone back to the plant site so I guess they are immune to the tension that you mention. Can you elaborate on what is going on that is causing all this pain?

All RTN executives were replaced because of the merger. According to Kennedy they all retired to seek opportunities elsewhere. Are you talking about the RTN BU executives or department directors?

Look, there are two of three elements at play here that are affecting most workplaces, and all three affecting Raytheon:
1) Pandemic
2)"Merger"
3) Liberalization of the workplace (ie adoption of CRT)

All of these elements are eroding the workplace and causing divisions. Add to that, and most executives also fear for their jobs and have turn into "snowflakes" when it comes to making the hard decisions. So, when you have an erosion of leadership that is affected by the current Liberal mindset of this administration you pretty much guarantee a bad situation.
Now, all we need is to raise the debt ceiling, default on our national debt, cause inflation, and a market meltdown.
Good luck everyone. Its going to be a wild ride.
