Innovation is nearly impossible when most of the cash flow goes to the dividend and debt service.

There is no high margin business anymore at IBM, management is eating all the margins…

The thing that made me laugh was when he was talking about the Red Hat cr-p being able to run on the clouds and on prem… he mentioned AWS, Azure, Google then he said on our servers… the guy could not even remember what the IBM Cloud is called… oh wait, is it called anything… this CEO is pathetic!

When the World now and going forward will run on CHIPs, you would think IBM will change its stupid 'philosophy' of not wanting to be in the chip business end-to-end... but as always with IBM it is all about being in higher margin businesses (whatever that means)... This is a stupid company.

So after watching it sure looks like the operative strategies are

  1. LINUX IBM is going all in on it. They will write all new OS’s, middleware, etc etc in LINUX
  1. Partnerships IBM is going all in on partnerships. AK says we need USA investment, but last I looked Samsung is from Korea. AK mentions Intel, and my guess is that’s the partnership he will try and exploit as time moves on
  1. IBM will subcontract any manufacturing out, as it’s labor intensive at a low rate of return on the dollar. IBM is interested in the DuPont philosophy Develop it, then license it. Investing in IP, as you can charge what the market will tolerate
