How many pointless meetings do we need each day to make sure that it seems that some people who should have been cut long ago have something to do? Unlike them, I don't have the luxury of wasting my time since I have more than enough to do for two people. I can definitely do without pointless meetings where we regurgitate the same thing over and over again.

We have directors and above who I wonder how they got there in the first place… political skills are great but not much else. If one stops participating one may be singled out as the issue. It’s about blame and finger pointing. And revenge is swift. All MUST be in attendance. I guess some feel that if the audience is not big enough they don’t matter?
That type of behavior started in projects and is now widespread.

Maybe your office is different than mine but I honestly don’t see why you don’t stop going to meetings you don’t need to. Any manager worth a damn would work to help you get out of stuff like that if it’s truly pointless.

Meetings in software are indeed pointless… dog eat dog and one has to be careful not to commit as the proverbial bus comes often.
How do you prove meetings are pointless when the whole point of those is to select who to blame and set traps? You can’t ! Find some PMO meeting to attend and go in circle then at least those seem amusing

Why are you going to pointless meetings? If this is a common occurrence for you, bring it up with the meeting organizers/your boss and get out of them and explain that it has no value.

Listen if you actually did your job we wouldn’t need meetings to make sure you actually did your work. And anyone who claims they do the work of 2 people really does the work of 1/2 a person.
