Nobody cares about chemicals it’s a dead duck going nowhere
And so they thought they cleaned chemicals in 2018! It was good for a year but after that, the people who reigned were brought back and became messy again. And because of knowledge gap, became messier this time. As long as there is no revenue goal for technology, this part of baker hughes will just be like this.
Chemicals is finished. Upstream is a hard, hard, competitive market for chemicals. Why’d you think Nalco spun off ChampionX? And they were a company that had their act together!
There is no room for poor performance and failure any more. Too many hungry independents.
Nepotism and favoritism have reigned too long. Now we’ve lost those little people who kept their heads down and kept the business going. Now all we’re left with is ignorant, inexperienced, customer-shy, yes-people.

There were many changes in chemicals. Promotion is not based on the technical expertise and customer experience, but based on blood affinity of people. The most horrible thing is that these managers will decide the future of chemicals, including technical direction as well as HR issues.
They promote an atmosphere of not knowing in CHEMICALS. As long as you can answer politically, these are the people that goes to the top ladder. Bad thing is even their supposedly technical experts are doing the same thing. The extinct and few people left who truly know their technology are being bombarded with work. Lots of them just take care of project management, timesheet and safety that they don't even understand. This is what the current technology leadership is promoting and achieving! The worst Technology leadership so far!
They probably think 80 is good!

I love working in Aberdeen office. The salary is great, people are really nice and very, yes very smart.
We get a company car and our home rental is paid for by the company too as is our kids education at a private school in the city centre. We also get paid a filmily flight back to the USA once a year for vacation. I am a digital specialist with a Phd in computer science so I guess I do have an above average education but I would rather be in Aberdeen working than back in Texas. Love the Scottish heritage and history too in this beautiful city and country. Hope you guys enjoy your job like I do.

So one the one hand aberdeen have gone green and on the other they’re drilling oilwells - obviously not hiring the smartest graduates but what else is new

While the rest of the time the company is sleeping on the floor waiting for its owner to show up.
No fixin for Chemicals with the current technology leadership!
I love this company. Going to work is like watching Simpson’s, king of the hill and South Park all in one. First day back and I think we heard some one master baiting in the restroom. I guess coming back to the office messed up the routine. Thought someone should be aware of what’s going on , so I told my boss. He asked me if I could tell how big it was based on the sounds I heard. Then my boss eagerly provided a rendition of sounds to choose from to get him a better picture as to what was going on in the stall. 😳
He’ll probably figure out how to fire me after he sees this, but then again I recorded everything I heard in the bathroom and the meeting with him aka my boss.

No- was apparent to me 5 yrs ago when I left and from the looks of things it’s getting much worse. The pandering to climate change activists alone is evidence enough. How can a company whose Primary purpose is to extract hydrocarbons say they will be net-zero with a straight face. Oh it’s just our operations we are referring too! What a joke. Get out when you can. And for the record, no one cared or cares about Aberdeen.

New Aberdeen management are cleaning the company up. Many old school employees have been retired or let go and focus now is on smart you university graduates. We want to be seen as a young mobile modern tech company who employ the best of the best in the city. Also branching out into emissions monitoring and the energy transitions. We are #1 in this business globally.
So, I am afraid if you are taxi driver, bricky, Slater, nightclub bouncer, cleaner, etc we will not be able to employ you unless you go to night school and get an engineering degree. Aberdeen is the tech capital of the energy industry and we are like google in California but based in Aberdeen, the new Dubai.

How much money did BH lose after the shambles by management in Aberdeen office? Lost contracts, layoffs, facility closures what a clusterfxxx. This is what happens when you put the wrong people in management. Everything goes downhill until you lose it all and that’s what happened. What a freaking mess.
