Top companies respond to ruling overturning Roe v. Wade

Should we presume EM is going to stay silent and not do anything like these top companies? And EM is incorporated in NJ and/or Delaware so legally presume there is a way. But they’d have to want to support their female employees so I don’t expect anything. Maybe WIN can raise the topic to at least get a statement from our MC and HR leadership.

Companies like Google, Salesforce, DoorDash and Airbnb reiterated their commitment to covering travel expenses for employees seeking health care services they can’t access in their state.
Other companies that came forward Friday to say they would cover employee travel expenses for abortions include Warner Bros., Condé Nast, BuzzFeed, Vox Media, Goldman Sachs, Snap, Macy’s, Intuit and Di-k’s Sporting Goods. They joined a group including Starbucks, Tesla, Yelp, Airbnb, Netflix, Patagonia, DoorDash, JPMorgan Chase, Levi Strauss & Co., PayPal, OKCupid, Citigroup, Kroger, Google, Microsoft, Paramount, Nike, Chobani, Lyft and Reddit that had previously implemented similar policies.

@2qmg+1hpE6tTI Women in the scenarios you speak of will not be prevented from receiving medical attention.

“We believe that all of our US employees are entitled to consistent and safe access to the benefits already covered by our health care plans,” BP said Wednesday in an emailed statement. “That’s why BP has decided to assist with travel expenses for covered health care services that cannot be obtained near where an employee lives.”

Many "top" companies are happy to pay something for employees to travel out of state and abort their baby. Cost them less than covering another child on their health plans. Also childless employees aren't "distracted" by family needs. ExxonMobil will probably try to stay neutral on this issue but I'm not sure they can.

Oil and gas companies are made up of diverse people.

EM should remain neutral on all non oilfield issues.

If people will need to travel for an abortion, EM sells more fuel.

If people cannot get abortions, we get more customers.

Win/win. Think positive.

Public image is XOM's biggest concern. If they make a statement about a controversial subject, they will fear being looked at in a negative way whichever side they stand, therefore, they will not get involved in this debate.

It is going to be heartbreaking when everyone realizes what happens when someone they love has an incomplete miscarriage & cannot get a D&C, an ectopic pregnancy, an amniotic infection, infertility, unable to get birth control pills for endometriosis, a ruptured fallopian tube, etc. It will be a sad wake-up call.

@1myn+1hpE6tTI Do you really not see the connection between fearing being laid off and losing the right of medical privacy and body autonomy? Do you not see that women who are pregnant, can get pregnant, and who have children aren’t possibly the ones hardest hit by layoffs? Granted, most of us who work here are probably very well off, it doesn’t mean a layoff won’t devastate us or our families. Also, we don’t live in a vacuum. Layoffs for us mean layoffs for the janitors, food service, local businesses that depend on EM, etc. We can care about women as well as layoffs, because we all know both layoffs & this decision will have far reaching effects for us all.

@1myn+1hpE6tTI Yes, WOMEN and those that care about them worry about loss of their rights to make a PRIVATE MEDICAL DECISION.

What a stupid post. We are in the middle of the PA period. A lot of people will be told VERY SOON that they are PIPed or fired just because DW wants to hit a number on a spreadsheet. That is A LOT OF PEOPLE WILL BE LAID OFF and a lot of families will be without income. AND YOU WORRY ABOUT ROE VS WADE!! You are out of touch with reality.

If we expect or wait for EM to say it do the right thing we may be waiting forever. I know we probably donated tons of money to candidates that pushed for this. If only we put another condition on those we throw money at - they must restore the right for privacy and choice for American women.

ExxonMobil will want to stay “neutral” like it does for supporting other social causes which may pi-s off politicians.

It is sad that the hopefulness of this post comes down to a female employee needing to disclose her medical condition and treatment choice to her employer. So much for privacy laws.
