Problem is people try to meet expectations rather than exceed expectations as no there is difference in pay rise between two

Candies are bright and sit atop the cake. Candles get all the attention, raises and promotions.
You can stay a baker but I prefer to be a candle.
You're putting the burden on your coworkers to cover you slack unless you're with the 25% who's job duties are just candles on the cake. Looks nice but adds nothing.
Lol, take away the meetings and you'll see who does nothing all week
