Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Cruise - Seriously injured woman tonight in SF.

Seriously, why is it always cruise and every time its a completely different failure mode. I understand the sunk cost but the liability is just too high to develop this in house.

Tonight's Incident: https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/san-francisco/woman-trapped-cruise-car-san-francisco/3332464/

If it's not driving through crosswalks ignoring people.. https://twitter.com/enelayy/status/1691121805657001984

Or not yielding and hitting emergency vehicles...
https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/18/23837217/cruise-robotaxi-driverless-crash-fire-truck-san-francisco

Or complete breakdown and just halting all traffic...

This is only a sample, and doesn't even go further back than August. IMO need to divest from cruise, recoup what we can and just license from you now who just to let them deal with the liability.

Whoever down-voted @2xtr+1oUc0jS9 will deserve it when their 401k gets wiped out.
Why are you so threatened by the truth?

Tesla, Bitcoin, lots of ponzi schemes in the investment world.

People are always pumping investments that don't have good fundamentals.

Study the stock market, pension & 401k investment funds. Tesla is a sacred cow in one of the biggest pump and dump schemes ever devised. You will also find Apple and Nvidia in the same scheme. The unimaginative fund managers have pumped trillions into these three companies. They aren't too big to fail, so when the market finally goes down, these 3 companies will wipe out pensions and 401ks everywhere.

This is why the press can't speak badly about Tesla.

lol @ tesla and PR department in the same sentence.

you know they're famous for elon firing the whole PR department in a rage and having zero investments in media or marketing at all. this was maybe 2-3 years ago, and was like the start of the slide of elon going crazy.

saying elon and company would scrub the internet of articles like that is probably the one thing you could that not even bears or short sellers would try to convince people of.

"...Cruise quickly put out a series of statements via Twitter (now X) claiming the pedestrian was actually tossed in front of their robotaxi after being struck by a hit-and-run vehicle that was traveling in the accompanying lane. While the investigation is technically ongoing, numerous media outlets have run with the premise after having seen the on-board footage...." thetruthaboutcars

The results they have are the judgment on their hiring decisions.

"Cheapest engineers" or diversity hires?
If you work at the VEC, you know the answer.

It's a hard problem to solve and it doesn't help when you hire the cheapest engineers on the planet you can find instead of the best.
