Thread regarding Ascension Health layoffs

Not even trying to retain anyone

More of my colleagues have left recently than in several years before. That should be alarming to any serious leadership. Of course, unless that is their ultimate goal, to have as many of us as possible leave voluntarily? I doubt there were any attempts to retain anyone?

I recently departed AT. I've always had stellar reviews and my work was very visible during the pandemic. There was zero in the way of asking what it would take to get me to stay (I wouldn't have) or to have a salary discussion. And no, I wasn't over paid. My new job is a 50% annual increase.

They are bleeding - no hemorrhaging - corporate memory when all of their experienced staff are leaving. But they don't care because the plan isn't to keep the place afloat.

My understanding is the healthcare side of the business still has ultimate control (even if currently suppressed to an extent) the private equity/investments branch exists to bring in profit to lower (and potentially completely offset) costs associated with providing healthcare. I was told AT was intended to become a MSP and provide IT services at no cost to Ascension, obviously they have been taking a different route since June 2018. I am of the impression the current state of things was not the intended outcome, the idea is to make a shitload of money, not collapse.

Post ID: @2pjd+1ifzKUGr why not? Do you think they care more about their profits and pprtfolios5 or providing excellent support and service to their money makers? Hmmmm? Who has to deal with the fallout or work harder or get stressed the Eff out? Not the people making the decisions and the $$$$$, that's for sure.

If they have all that money, why are they only paying for the extra value meal services plan.

Not inept, well mabe some of the under bosses who are just following orders, but this is all part of the plan. Remember, private equity has been running the show for 20 years, and ultimately the plan was to use that sweet tax free money to fund for-profit ventures. The teet's just about sucked dry, so buh-bye. Or maybe they will go crying to the Fed's again for more handouts. That is one of the reason's healthcare is so attractive to PE, guarenteed customers AND bailouts.

But think about it. Why even try to keep up the facade of being in the business of health care when you have a nice, fat (extremely lucrative) portfolio now? Let someone else provide care while you sit back and make money off of THEM.

They are probably headed for a collapse of some type. Healthcare in general is under pressure and Ascension leadership is inept. Hiding behind smiles, cherry picked data and an out of touch grand master strategy only works for so long.

No attempt to keep anyone valuable even if they’re highly underpaid. It’s very sad.
