XBS raises

So what’s the deal with raises? Seem to remember an email mentioning a possible in July. Hmmm?
Haven’t had a raise on 3 years. And the last two have been pure he**.
We’re just supposed to work ourselves to death with nothing in return. Especially since most of the rebadged folks have left or been let go!

Anyone know if HCL does raises? Its been almost 1.5 years since the first rebadge. I thought I recall during their introduction that they said yearly reviews in April. But I suppose they meant that for their actual offshore people and didn't plan to still have some of us still working for them.

Its like what Ursula told us in 2010, about raises, be happy that you have a job.

What will your raise do for you with no job? That where this company is headed - a bunch of layoffs to look forward to.

To the poster who wrote: "My pay has increased over 50% in the last 8 years. In order to receive pay increases you must do several things: 1. Add incremental value in a visible way. Solve problems that are bothering senior management. By senior, I mean people that can sign something to benefit you, not your grade d4 manager. Focus on Norwalk. 2. Assume more responsibility. It is not reasonable to get a raise for doing your current job well anymore. Anyone can do that. 3. Ask, make noise. Make yourself known. Get involved."

Here's my response:
There are a few people who stood out in my career (prior to me being laid off) who did all these things, and guess what? The only difference was, they lasted longer than me before getting laid off!

My take on your comments? You are a young person with a high social IQ who managed to insert yourself into the circle of higher ups. You were a new hire, recently out of university, maybe with an MBA - new hires tend to get hired in at a relatively low pay rate and get raises/promotions more quickly than more established employees. Physical proximity helps - I knew of people based at Norwalk who had more influence due to meeting C-suite folks in casual encounters than those employees located elsewhere. I also bet you're not at any of the former GIS locations, or a US field location, probably at Webster. Also not Canada based or XE, I bet.

Also sounds like you've done end runs on your D4 manager - in the long term, not a smart move. You'll learn that people won't trust you or want to work with you because you'll take all the credit.

Not trolling. If you are seriously quietly waiting for your genius to be recognized you will wind up wasting years of career growth. COLA raises within a position don't even make sense anymore due to the labor glut. You need to distinguish yourself or move somewhere you can. I left the first time I was shorted on comp.

My pay has increased over 50% in the last 8 years. Get involved. 4. The moment you become unhappy, quit. Hanging around and expecting thing to get better organically is ridiculous. XRX is in a challenging phase. Either embrace the challenge or move on.

@2hoj+15UAijow - not arguing that at all. A lot of people had way better bonus structures in place before these measly "bonuses" were put in place. From what I do know, you can either get the Xerox "bonus" or the XBS Core bonus you had in place, but not both. I know Xerox is doing everything it can to cut costs and it would behoove ALL of us to get out. But, like you said, not a lot out there right now in terms of jobs (for some of us). My point was that there was indeed communication that went out about the "merit" increases. And I did in fact receive the entirely of the 5% bonus (in two installments).

That 2% does not come close to covering my 6K bonus potential that they took away. 4.5K of it rode on my performance and I never missed it in 10 years. The other 1.5K was based on company hitting its number for the year and that only payed out 3 times in 10 years.

Currently interviewing, but not a lot available right now.

I can say that I did receive both the 2% bonus last year and the remaining 2.9% earlier this year. If you didn’t get it, it’s possible you have another bonus plan in place that overrode it. I am by no means saying Xerox is awesome, but in my case, I was paid out the bonuses and I do believe we’ll get this merit increase in July.

Don’t forget about the 2.9% bonus we earned last year and was supposed to be paid out in March or April. We won’t be seeing that either.

There were supposed to be merit increases this year in July. This was talked about at one of the employee webcasts last year (or was it early 2020)?

OK, I found the email. It's from January 30, 2020 from SMW:

"Merit Program: We are planning performance-based merit increases, slated for mid-year."

So, it was discussed both at the webcast and in an email.

I would discuss with your manager or HR person. If anyone hears anything RELIABLE, please post it here.

As a Canadian Xerox employee, I decided to move on. For similar reasons. Enough is enough. Talent came and left, as talent does when it finds itself in a dump. And then one fine day I realized I was surrounded mostly by what's left once talent leaves... People who didn't care. People who did their best to do the minimum while appearing jolly. People who stabbed others. I actually had a way out that got paused because of this Covid thing. And soon, hopefully, things will resume and I can leave this disaster behind me. My advice to all: look around. Find out how what you do is really similar to what others need in many ways. And ask. Ask your friends and ex-colleagues. You'll be surprised how those who left but remember you will bring you on. They did for me!

Raises
Lol
Hilarious
As a Canadian Xerox employee, let me tell you how raises have worked out....
22 years I’ve been here, raises were abundant in the first 5 or so years. Then they took away the SIP program and the bonuses for MIF and raises pretty much stopped unless you got a promotion.
A few years later raises stopped even with promotions (more of a “take on more responsibility for no pay”) but they were always promised- which means lied to.
At the height of insult we were asked to actually take a ten percent pay cut to keep our jobs. To throw insult to injury, when Xerox “gave back” the ten percent, they gave it back on the reduced amount so we never went back to what we were making (it came out to about a 9.2% payback versus a 100% reinstatement of what we were paid before the pay reduction)
There was a period of 8 years after that in which nobody received raises anyone was ever aware of
Then we had a new SPP and most got a little raise. A 1.5% to 3.0% raise and we only waited pretty much a decade for that whopper!
Yes, I know that we weren’t tied to a chain and could have left but people tend to put up with a lot before they feel forced out so most, not all, but most stuck it out
And now?
Those that stayed have been transitioned and laid off/fired because we have been deemed useless
Xerox is a dump
We gave and gave to help the company we believed in
And they threw us out for our loyalty
Xerox is the trailer trash of class
Trailer trash!!!!!

I am happy I have a job. But really, what keeps me going is the knowledge that John V is able to take home 24.5 million dollars without hesitation during this tough time for Xerox.
He is truly the leader of those who pretend to care for a Xerox with a future.
