Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Big Disconnect From Corp To Stores

If you watched Friday’s podcast you would think you were hearing about a different company.
All of the talk of success, and how great the company is doing. All while the stores are falling apart.
Unless it’s a store Marvin is visiting, then of course everything is carefully choreographed to put on a show.

How long will the smoke and mirrors show be able to continue?

I love seeing everyone on here complain complain complain. But the stock and bonuses go up and up and up. Seems like there is a reason people are here are upset, because Marvin’s changes are working. Sales up. Profit up. Stock up.

Sorry everyone. Ur complaining just doesn’t tie out with what is happening.

Considering store managers can get an annual bonus of more than I make in an entire year I'm going to have to call BS on that.

When things were getting worse at JCPenney (and have continued that same path after these clowns left) General Managers were telling DMs, RVPs, and anyone that would listen that all we do is put on dog a pony shows for the corporate clowns and it wasn’t helping to fix the real issue. Instead staffing continually got cut as it was the only controllable measure they could manipulate. This will continue at Lowe’s. I saw it happen first hand at both companies.

Regarding the latest podcast, if you eliminate all the superficial pointless minutia, the take away I heard were:

Continue to streamline Canada operations.
Continue to drive stock price.

Was there ever any doubt there would yet again be absolutely NO discussion of the serious problems we are facing and what specific steps are being done to correct them? Such as the appliance inventory disaster we have been dealing with for months now. Keep blowing that smoke where the sun never shines.

Maybe if that ASM managed his supervisors you would need MSA's to cleannl up alm the time.

Is it really anonymous or is the url recorded? Anyway, from what I understand, David E. Shaw bought a bunch of stock and whisked out Niblock and whisked in Marvin Ellison. It seems the only goal is to get the stock price up to $200 by hook or by crook and then....who knows? Currently, Lowe's closed at $125 and Depot closed at $245 so it seems unlikely that Lowe's will a) get to $200 any time soon or b) close the gap between them and Depot. In most places, making a company more efficient is enough to increase the value and the stock price but what Ellison and company are doing is to simply cut-away at the only expense that is controllable and that can be manipulated - labor. This does not take any sort of thought or creativity or hard choices, except hard choices for the newly-unemployed. Keep cutting and keep handing-out labor to 3rd party vendors who do not receive any benefits and keep hoping that will be enough to cause the stock to rise and everyone with any sort of investment will walk away happy. In the meantime, the associates make do with a lack of coverage and very thin scheduling and a general lack of employees on the floor.

They don't care about stores and will only get worse at stores.

They will need to keep cutting at stores to fund Tech Center and new employees there, many I'm guessing will start at 100k because they need to compete with other companies hiring tech talent. Would love to do side by side pics of their break/lunchroom vs ours in stores.

We had a good walk by the regional VP this week, after several days of an ASM from another store having all the MSAs under his authority slapping pancake makeup, lipstick and eye liner on the pig.
