Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

This is pathetic!

They make us work in unsafe conditions for weeks, then they barely implement any of the highly touted safety measures, they reduce the open hours by the bare minimum they can, and now they expect us to be grateful because they are giving us Easter Sunday off??????

How shameful this company and Marvin can get?!??!?!?!

Because if you're let go through no fault of your own we have enough of. Safety net that you won't starve. But if your employer treats you like sh– and you quit, you are f—ed. It's not complicated.

When they hire people to come clean its only 3 people to deep clean the store. Only heavy use Wilde's, wipe down each cart, wipe down doors and handles, clean the offices training room, break room, restroom, now clean the registers areas. After they have us clean everything they were going to do. There so called deep clean. These people that are coming in to clean does not come with anything. No cleaning supplies. 3 people in body coverage, shoe coverage, glove and mask the stock provides, and the same cleaning spray bottles we use, and our own roll of paper towels. We are geeting headaches from all the cleaning chemicals, some are getting rashes. We are sooo short staff we cant keep up with online order or the people checking out. In a time of essential 65 bags of mulch is not an essential at this time. I get if you are doing a veggie or fruit garden. I get if you need a fan\ac because its getting warmer, a refrigerator if yours goes out, lumber if you roof leaks, or some kind of plumbing if it is messing up. Those are a time in need. People cuss out employees of the store because we cant sale the display freeze and we don't have 1 in stock. The unbelievable of how customers act during this time. You dont know how many times as a cashier they can wash there hand. How about none. And yet we don't have have hand sanitizer. It is soo hard to have time to even breath because your overwhelmed with all the customers that just keep coming.

At this point a significant amount of us are probably asymptomatic carriers. It’s more dangerous for the customer to interact with us. That’s why all of this distance and glove wearing is essential.

For those that remember, traditionally Easter was a storewide holiday for all employees. Robert Nibloch in a grand experiment decided to have the stores open for half a day Easter Sunday. Those that worked were paid double time and got a comp day off. Low and behold it was such a hit with the buying public and thus highly profitable . No more Easter Sunday’s off, it became just another work day. Ellison’s move to close the stores is a public relations ploy and come Easter Monday the stores will be packed

Sadly there is no bottom when it comes to this company under this new leadership (or should I say lack thereof). This all comes after the 80+ store closures with accompanying layoffs, abysmal 3rd party delivery roll out followed by equally abysmal cross-dock appliance delivery (seriously what rocket scientist in corporate actually thought that Sterling was up for that task). Elimination of in-house facilities, assembly and RTM. Combined with next to no appliance inventory for month (November) after month (January) after month (February) after month (March) after month (now April) and with no end in sight. Virtually no accountability at the top for any of their actions other than their now standard BS "we are only one year into our multi-year turn around strategy". The pathetic Q4 2019 results spoke volumes especially when all of Lowe's losses/short comings were reflected as gains over at HD. Bravo corporate, give yourselves a round of applause to go with your year end bonuses and matching bobble heads while we at the stores look around for the PPE you told the media you were providing.
