Layoff ... after layoff ... after layoff. This layoff approach deeply dampens morale, as employees wonder who will be next. To have layoffs (RIF) during the holidays, it's penny wise and pound foolish as the reputational harm to the decision-maker(s) and to the organization far outweighs the cost savings. It's not just that Christmas is "the worst possible time" for people to be fired (is there ever a good time?) but the people that are left in the company should be asking "Hey - who ARE these people that I work for who would fire someone so close to Christmas?" And as the non-fired enjoy their Christmas dinner, they're be thinking "Am I next?" I personally would be applying for jobs once January 1st comes.

They scr***D PA and NJ, they got rid of most of the Susquehanna and Nat Penn people. Even Municipalities that banked in those markets knew to get out.
It makes you wonder the type of people who will be left and running the organization. I myself left and have zero regrets. It was the best career decision that I've ever made. I could clearly see the writing on the wall. What a sh– show.
Same deal in PA. People are running away as fast as can
People resigning left and right. I love it! Run as far away from this cluster as possible as quickly as you can! GTFO
Va and nc. Managers have no control of who gets laid off or who can come back. On top of the rif’s, folks are resigning left and right. Merry Christmas.
Where are the layoffs? State?
BB&T and SunTrust have been in the dark ages for a long time, yes, the lights have been out for a long time. They weren't ready for a merger of equals, they just needed to hire some sharp people to bring them into the 21st century. Hiring Boston Consulting was their biggest mistake, not only have they ruined their brand, they listened to people who looked at numbers, not people. All the "Best of the Best" have been RIFd or left. The remaining in fear and swamped doing the work of others. So sad to see them end this way. You can't treat people this way and get away with it without failing. What comes around goes around.
The lights have been for a long time, and yes, who are these people?
