Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

So happy

Quit after 10 years. Found another job making so much more money. Wish I would have left sooner but people become comfortable in a routine so they don’t look elsewhere but I noticed year after year the company continues to get worse. The final nail in the coffin for me was when I worked the same shift for 10 years and they wanted to give me a shift I was unable to work and was outside my availability. People have certain availability for a reason. But it all worked out. I found another job. No weekends, no holidays working but are PAID. Walmart is an awful place to work. Management treats associates like dirt, you are overworked, stressed, underpaid. I hope everyone else who is unhappy will search for something else and can too get out of Walmart.

Thank you!
Glad you got out as well! I wonder why I took so long to do it? I guess I got used to a routine but the worse the environment got the harder and harder it became. Was super depressed and took a toll on my mental health. I finally had enough and started applying other places and lucked out with this job. I am so beyond thankful and happy for the new job I have and so happy to be out of Walmart.

First check was over 1500 from my new job after taxes and 401k taken out. It’s wonderful. More money and less stress. So happy to be out of that toxic work environment.

CONGRATS - leaving that he$$ ho-e after 21+ years was such a blessing for myself as well. After being used and abused for so many many freakin years!

Found another job making more $$ as well and to top it off ? My doctor took me off the heart meds and complemented me on getting healthier.

The stress ? The abuse ? Of being a store manager for Walmart for so long dang near ki---d me.

I look back and shack my head ! How stupid I was for wasting so much of my life for an unappreciative company like Walmart ! Wasted years missing holidays / family gatherings for such a greedy a$$company!

Again CONGRATS !

@3dyv+1b5MKZkC Ok that was sarcasm, you are not very smart are you? You are another jealous troll. I found another job making way more money and wanted to write how happy I was but jealous trolls have to troll and write ignorant comments. I don’t care. I’m happy and glad to be out of hellmart.

@3atj+1b5MKZkC Jealous much? Actually I started looking back in April for another job. Went on some interviews and got a call back from a few places and took a job offer making yes 6 more an hour then I make at Walmart. So after I received my job offer and I had a start date I indeed walked out. Walmart is on the low end of pay. Amazon in my area is hiring at 17 plus to start so is Costco so there are jobs out there that pay way more than Walmart. This job is not retail but it is making 6 more an hour then I did at Walmart. I mean Walmart hands our 2% raises someone that’s been there 10 years is not making very much…. Why are you so shocked that other employers pay more? Anyway you just sound like a jealous troll. Don’t worry maybe Walmart will fire you and you won’t get a chance to walk out like me ;). Because Walmart’s goal is to not have any long term associates they are just pushing people out the door finding ways to get rid of more people and not pay benefits or unemployment. Just more and more downgrading and eliminations. So maybe you will be the one who is going to be the fired one

I doubt your making 6 more and hour. Lol.. highly doubt that. You got fired, so now your trying to make it sound like your big and bad and just walked out... to another job making 6 more an hour. Yeah right.

Yes, this was Walmart’s way of pushing people out the door. Eventually their goal is to have no long term associates or have to pay any benefits so if you are still employed you may be next. Walmart is a sh---y company and glad I’m out. Over the years all they did was take take and take more away from long term associates. Glad I quit should have a long time ago. But everything happens for a reason , timing was right. I found a new job making 6 more an hour. Win for me yes. It’s wonderful not having to deal with awful management that mistreatments employees and to have an employer that values and respects you. It’s WONDERFUL. WIN FOR ME is correct.

This is a Win/Win for Walmart and for you! First, you get your new job and Walmart gets rid of an undesirable associate. The whole idea around the hours/availability changes were to force undesirable store associates into schedules that led them toward the door voluntarily, ie not enough hours to remain full time, or, new hours that conflict with family schedules, etc. Now, Walmart can fill that position with someone else. The odds are at least 50/50 they can find someone who would be better. They don’t have to pay benefits, unemployment - nothing.

Thank you! Glad you are out as well. There is life after Walmart! You are so right any people with any type of seniority making a decent wage they will try to push out the door. Walmart is an awful company. They don’t value people’s loyalty or hard work. Everyone is nothing but a WIN number to Walmart. So VERY HAPPY to be out of there!

I'm happy for you! I left about 2 years ago. The company sent in a henchman with small man syndrome to clear out the people who had been around long enough to have built up some vacation. They started bogus coachings and gave me a lousy evaluation after years of great ones and despite top of the market metrics. I saw the light and quit before the little pr--k had the satisfaction of terminating me. I have never been happier. My new boss told me he was thrilled WalMart was so stupid as to let me go.

There is life outside of this wretched company.
