Thread regarding VMware layoffs

What about the EDA organization?

I recently accepted an offer to join EDA. However now I am wondering if this is a big mistake?
I have heard from friends that work in the company already that EDA may be completely axed except a really small % of people that work on some key projects?
Anyone with more info on EDA?

What is the purpose of EDA? Looking at the data and find where else to make more money and where various departments/products can do better. The situation right now is recession coming, big layoffs coming, customers looking into their own pockets, everyone and every company looking to cut back, so, what exactly EDA going to analyze ? Data engineering will have deep cut as there aren't anything worthy to analyze at least until it passes recession when the world starting to spend again. The last worthy analytic was prior to BC acquiring VMW where Tan needs to know if VMW is worthy and where to cut if acquired. Also, remember that BC also have their own Analytic team. So, EDA is just as redundant as marketing, HR and Finance that BC have in house. The same applies to other companies, analytic is not doing so good. Look at Facebook .. plenty of DE out there.

I work here and I’ve no idea what EDA even stands for, much less have ever knowingly engaged with it (them?) - so I’d say you are right to be worried!

EDA, BTA were created for personal growth of few leaders. They don’t deliver a lot of value. These Orgs will be the first ones to go.

I don't know but the few times I worked with EDA it seemed to me the leadership was a joke... Some good competent people there but a lot of id--tic leadership (many of them left already) but they are hiring new id--t leaders.
