At least you still have your jobs. There are still many people across the board in all industries who are struggling to survive wondering where their next meal will come from or how to pay their electric bill. Bash me all you want but you need to feel grateful that you have a means of supporting yourself and your family.

@2kbi+1bdZrL1N So? You have been with the company 20 years and it took you that long to make a DECENT wage I’m sure. With Walmart handing out 20 cent raises each year. That was my point Walmart should pay a living wage. Just because you have been at Walmart for 20 years doesn’t mean a new person who’s been there a year works any less harder than you!
Minimum wage
Costco: $16
Walmart: $11
Average pay
Costco: $24
Walmart: $15
Employees on food stamps (subsidized by you)
Costco: Virtually none
Walmart: More than any other company
Founder net worth
Costco: not a billionaire
Walmart: $220+ billion; up $30 billion in the pandemic
Both companies have similar business models and charge the same low prices. One decided to treat its employees like humans and forgo enormous profits, and the other one took the opposite track.
Business is about choices.
As someone who has never worked at Walmart but enjoys browsing this site, I have a genuine question for you all. Is it the industry as a whole that pays poorly or is it just Walmart that pays poorly? If it is just Walmart, what is keeping you from working at a place that pays better? Market forces suggest that wages would rise if there weren’t enough labor supply to fill the demand. If they don’t have issues hiring people at their pay rate, then wages will only track the market rate. Again, genuinely curious about the discussion, so let me know what I am missing please.
You have to pay your dues and earn it. I worked my bu-t off for 20 years here. Time for you to get off yours. Get 2 jobs if you have to. There are millions of jobs in the u.s. that need to be filled. Get off your a$$ and get one that you like and stop whining. You're probably a bidenette
@1thp+1bdZrL1N Yes, so true.
There is a difference between being employed -- and being "gainfully" employed. At $11.00 starting pay -- and $0.20/hour annual increase (for real!) -- a lot of folks working here are on government assistance -- and some with two or three jobs. Walmart Corporate wants the world to recognize their compassion for those less fortunate -- yet within their own walls Associates are deciding between food on the table -- or medicine. This is the worst kind of hypocrisy.
Agree with OP
People should get a living wage. Just think if these companies that make millions and billions of dollars and don’t pay their employees a living wage when they are able to do so. If they would pay their employees there wouldn’t be so many people on food stamps and Medicaid. That costs tax payers a lot of money funding those types of programs. Also if we had universal health care that would be nice just like other developed countries. Americans pay enough taxes we should have health care as a right. USA is far behind other countries. Even with maternity leave some counties provide year or two off with pay then provide you a nanny. Sad the state the USA is in currently and I don’t see if getting better only worse.
Walmart pays $hit that was my point. Others pay a lot more such as Amazon, and Costco. Costco pays well and treats their employees right and still makes a profit. Why couldn’t Walmart do the same? They certainly can afford it. Reward the people who make you the BILLIONS. But at Walmart it is all about GREED. Even Target started paying 15 an hour. Walmart is still at 11 with your 20 cent a raise you get each year. It’s a joke. The poster said people should be thankful for job and stop complaining well people at Walmart are struggling they should be paid a living wage. You bust your @ss at the hellhole you should be paid because they can surely can afford it.
Guys if yer saying that the minimum wage should be a livable wage...and a poster threw out the number... 30 dollars an hour ...does that mean that you guys who have been with the company a few years should get 40 an hour?
Have any of you guys thought about running a business and paying yer base line folk 80,000 grand?... doesn’t this really make any sense?
Pick any retailer (and most organizations) on this site all the posts have this common theme.
People aren’t complaining just to complain. People shouldn’t be treated like trash working at Walmart. Management belittles and treat people like trash. No one should have to endure that treatment working there. It really does take a toll on mental health. Walmart is toxic. You will ki-l yourself for a company that wouldn’t even bat and eye if you died tomorrow. There are companies out there that value their employees and you are not treated like dog $hit just have to take that risk and chance and get out of HELLMART.
Come on! Walmart pay is horrible! A lot of employees are on Medicaid and food stamps. I worked there for a long time full time 40 hours and still struggled and I am not on any type of assistance. I don’t have any kids so I wouldn’t even qualify. I’m not bashing people who need the help and who do get assistance but believe me working at Walmart employees are struggling. Walmart should have to pay a LIVING WAGE, they certainly make enough BILLIONS ago afford it l. I know someone who who’s at Costco within 5 years she is at THIRTY DOLLARS an hour. Walmart can afford to pay their employees a living waste but they don’t because they don’t value the people who make them their MILLIONS it’s all GREED. Walmart is a $HIT company that doesn’t value their employees. So glad I’m out of the H3llhole!
I'd rather die starving then kiss the feet of some A-Ho-e wannabe Caesar and his Legionnaires... kinda like what Jesus did...
The peasantry should realize they live in a He-l on Earth... so bow to your Masters... sycophants and ALL...
I live in a place where Kings and Clowns are arguing who's burger is better...
