Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

I could never do this

I know a bunch of people who are miserable at SF but they don't want to leave because they don't want to miss out on severance. They are willing to continue being miserable for who knows how long on an off chance they might be laid off and given however many weeks - but never enough - in severance. If I was that unhappy, I'd already be gone. After all, severance is not even required by law, so they truly might be waiting in vain.

@2uiv-good coaching. Bubba does like boys especially the young ones-which is why he got expelled and now finds himself in a low level job with no hope and jo future.

@2hkm+1biTGXSK My father taught me long ago growing up, don't ever think of another man as stupid, hillbilly etc. Anyone who thinks they are stupid, might get a lesson they might not want to have learned the hard way and not out of some CPCU book or a college degree. Think about it real good....people like you who put people down, call them losers etc, cause the real mental health issues to come out causing mass chaos like mass shootings. Get to know someone, help them, and learn. I have and found it rewarding making lifelong friends. You may have saved a person and learned something yourself. Save don't destroy because when you don't save life, you have no respect for it.

Well, well. I've got a vehicle in my garage that its value is 50 + times what it originally sold for even considering present and future value. You are not wise.

Are sure you learned what proximate cause means because your explanation below sure casts doubt? And cars don’t typically appreciate in value nor do their expenses go down over time. I hope you are drunk because otherwise you d-mb as he-l.

One of the vey things they teach adjusters is proximate cause. The adjusters and agents are proximate cause. If a car is maintained and taken care of, it breaks down. SF take good care of your adjusters and agents! It will surprise you how much that car will decrease expenses and depreciation and they will appreciate in value. SF you have seemed to have forgotten this principles. You live in a disposable world ; causing the very issues our society faces. Good example...Ca, NY, Chicago, etc. Clean up your act!

The pension is back end loaded so that the longer you stay the better the benefit. It is based on years of service that maxes at 35 years and your 5 highest consecutive earning years. Honestly, if you aren’t staying for 15 years or more, even vested the amount will be very small and probably not a good reason to hang around.

Ummm, the Federal Election commission PROHIBITS Corporations or Labor Unions from donating to political candidates. Corporations CAN help coordinate employee PACS but are expressly prohibited from directing them.

You are not very bright are you. Those “SF” figures are for the employee and agent PACs. Your child like naïveté and ignorance is cute. Bless your heart

Really @1hez+1biTGXSK? You should do your research before making such comments. The information is on published on the internet and not difficult to find at all. https://www.opensecrets.org/orgs/state-farm-insurance/totals?id=D000000659

SF does not give $ to either politicians or PACs. Employees can voluntarily participate in a SF employee PAC and agents can voluntarily participate in a SF agents PAC at the state level. Both are administered by members not the company.

I totally agree with the OP. They sound like a person who would not sell their soul for something or someone they do not believe in. Exercising that freedom takes courage, values and ethics. Happiness, health, mental well being is far more important than money because money comes to those who respect the previous mentioned.

As long as SF is giving money to politicians and super pacs etc., I think the individual is entitled to speak his mind. China way?

SF CAs and CSs are like border patrol agents working under border Czar Kamala Harris.

It was 4 years. Depends on start date I think. Not positive with new HR benefit model and rules. It takes a while to even get a decent accrual as it’s based on salary and years I believe. Not a hefty accrual for sure.

I was at the Farm for several years and I only stayed for the pension and benefits, but I soon realized that my misery at the company working claims was only going to get worse. I still had 25+ years before hitting retirement. I tried to post out of claims multiple times but was pigeonholed in claims. I soon discovered that underwriting there was not true underwriting so I'm glad I wasn't selected there. I took a leap of faith and left the Farm despite being the lone supporter of my family with a medical needs child. Best decision I have made. I'm happier and make a little more money. No pension but I was with the Farm long enough to have been vested so I'll get something when I retire. Working from home during this pandemic has been the best. I can come and go from my desk as I please. There is no more Verint or whatever it's called now telling me when I can get up or for how long. I've literally been able to do so many things with my family. We'll soon be going back to the office on a hybrid schedule but even being at the office, I am treated like an adult and it's great.

Get the experience you need and leave unless you're really close to retirement. If you have been vested long enough to get a decent amount once you retire, leave and do something else. It's not worth your health. I don't work claims anymore but I stayed in insurance. One thing that has stuck with me was the day my TM told me that she begged her SM to let her go back to being a rep and they told her no. That meeting was the beginning of the end at the Farm for me. People, there is life outside of the Farm. You just have to stop making them treat you as if there is not.

These people sold their soul to SF. They do not know how much damage they are doing to themselves, their family and the community. Once they leave it takes at least two years to detox from a very toxic environment. It affects not only their mental but physical health as well.

There will be no more severance…as the company doesnt have enough staffung to do the job now…now if section managers are forced to move to a hub…then maybe….or folks in those offices they closed are given a reasonable job offer then maybe..but for the most part no…..

I don’t blame you, outside of the common du----s in claims, most of us are here to excel and build business experience, build a resume with or without SF. After 2-5 years of business exp you should be employable to a wide range of 40-70k a year jobs.

Good adjustors are known fast problem solvers. State Farm just isn’t known for having a big pool of that.
